Hotel Review: Marvell Club & Apartments, Ibiza We recently stayed at Marvell Club & Apartments in Ibiza and overall had a lovely holiday, though there were definitely areas that need improvement. From the moment we arrived, the hotel made a great first impression – it was clean, fresh-smelling, and the staff on reception were welcoming and friendly. Our room was modern and spotless, with a stunning view overlooking both the pools and the sea – a definite highlight. Travelling as a group of four adults with a three-year-old and an eight-month-old, we found the pool area to be the best part of the hotel. The splash park was absolutely perfect for our three-year-old, who spent nearly the entire day there, and it made our time around the pool really enjoyable and stress-free. Food-wise, breakfast was decent – a good selection to start the day, nothing overly fancy, but it did the job nicely. In the evenings, some of the food was actually really tasty, and there were definitely dishes we enjoyed. However, we did find the overall offering to be quite repetitive over the week. If you’re a fan of paella, you’d be in luck – it featured on the buffet nearly every night. While the meals weren’t bland or tasteless, a bit more variety and a few more flavourful options would have really made a difference. It wasn’t bad by any means, just a little uninspiring at times. The location of the hotel is not too bad – it’s about a 5 to 10-minute walk to a pleasant beach, and you can catch a water taxi from there to San Antonio, which we enjoyed. That said, the area right outside the hotel isn’t the nicest. It looks directly onto a run-down, abandoned nightclub and a derelict Chinese restaurant, which does spoil the vibe a bit. The hotel is surrounded by lots of supermarkets though, and some of which are much cheaper than the supermarket which is joined onto the hotel. That said, the drinks were really expensive in the bar area too, with some cocktails costing around £15 which we thought was very pricey for a hotel bar with no happy hour or anything. The biggest disappointment for us was the entertainment, especially considering we booked thinking there would be decent kids’ activities and family fun in the evenings. During the day, the “kids club” was just one friendly hotel staff member (Julia – who was absolutely lovely, smiley and brilliant with the children) taking kids for simple activities like painting / mask making. It was fine, but not the structured kids club we expected.. although our three year old daughter took a real shine to Julia and we were gutted she didn’t get to say bye to her! In the evening, entertainment was very limited. The mini disco run by Julia consisted of only about three songs, and after that, there was a wait for the main entertainment, which wasn’t child-friendly at all. One night was bingo, and another had a singer who unfortunately sounded like a bad X-Factor audition. It was really disappointing, especially when so many chi
