This was our Second visit and I would give it a strong 7 out of 10. Scones on arrival is a such a nice touch and the 6 course evening tasting menu was lovely. The service was impeccable. Joanne’s massage was fantastic and an absolute treat if you go here. The only thing we had an issue with was the luke warm breakfast when we got it. Didn’t sleep brilliant but that was because the bed was soft and I prefer a harder mattress. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Just shared one last Sunday lunch. It was, as always, a delightful experience. Will always have the happiest memories of weekend breaks, family celebrations, jazz nights and so the list goes on! Wishing the family all the very best for the future. You will be missed.

I've just been here twice, for lunch. I live too close to need to stay. It's a lovely building in nice grounds. Food has been first class both times, as has service. Shame that it's closing in a month. It's been on the market for a year at £2.3M but no takers thus far. Would make a wonderful country retreat for a very rich person. (17 bedrooms I think.)

We enjoyed a relaxing and wonderful stay for three nights as the centerpiece of our 30th anniversary trip. The manor and garden and surroundings were perfect for our anniversary! The hostess and staff were always extremely pleasant and natural. It’s no wonder the Downton Abbey actors stayed there for years when they were filming. The manor provides advice on nearby walks. We took the walk in the village nearby - it was truly gorgeous, like an illustration in a children’s book. The food was always excellent too. I loved my first ever black pudding (I’m from USA). Thank you, people of Esseborne Manor!

Before booking i will always read reviews,it helps to decide if to stay or not, so I see it only makes sense that I should do the same. We booked 2 nights with one night having the 7 course menu, which we requested for our second night for our wedding anniversary. The Manor is located in a rural location with stunning views all round, the surrounding gardens could do with a little extra care. The staff were very attentive and extremely friendly. The breakfast menu had a good selection and the food was lovely fresh and hot. The 7 course menu was stunning we also paid extra to have the wine menu with dinner which consists of 4 different glasses of wine served with every second serving. Personally I think I would have preferred my own wine choice. On our first night we visited a local pub called The Crown inn and had a fantastic meal. Our room was over the courtyard with the pond, unfortunately we didn’t realise leaving our windows open would result with us being eaten alive by mosquitoes we found the next morning! The room was a fantastic size and all the little extras were great including the fan. The room was spotless,I wasn’t sure what look was going on in the decoration but it was still pleasant and clean. My only gripe really was the bathroom, very dated, very dusty,a rusty toilet brush holder and the shower in the bath flooded the floor every time you used it! I think if I was to return I may enquire about the variety of rooms first .

What a fabulous stay we had here. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with complimentary refreshments provided. We stayed for 2 nights and the meals served were simply amazing. Super surroundings and service throughout. I would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent service and food , we had the Tasting menu and it was some of the best food we have tasted. Hotel is dated but we liked its charm and couldn’t fault the staff and cleanliness of the hotel and grounds. We would highly recommend for a relaxed stay and I’m sure we will be back in the future x

Beautiful country manor hotel, located very close to a stunning, picturesque village. Brought for us as a gift for our anniversary we stayed one night in the gorgeous honeymoon suit (Kensington) which had stunning views over the garden and complete with sunken spa bath. Very large, comfortable bed. We had a 7 course tasting menu included as part of our deal and the food was amazing 10/10 . Breakfast the next day was also lovely. Highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back. The only downside is we did not stay for 2 nights!
