Dolphin Hotel Cambridge

Only stayed for one night but had terrific views over the meadow. Hotel is perfectly placed for the river great Ouse and walking into St Ives. I would like to make a special mention for Seetsa on reception, who we found to be very helpful. He gave us a very warm welcome and we feel he is an asset to the hotel. Thank you .

Mixed review. Our double room was very nice but the twin rooms that our relatives were staying in were small and a bit dated. Hotel seems to be partly under refurbishment. Breakfast was poor, and I think it's misleading to charge £10pp when booking online if you only charge £5pp if you book breakfast when you check in. A useful hotel if you need to be in the area but we won't be in a rush to go back.

Wonderful location with huge potential but needs work doing. The hotel rooms appear to be in 3 separate buildings. The 'reception' is a desk with a computer in a dark corridor which is being rebuilt. The reception is often empty with no staff available... if you could tell who the staff are are. The rooms were nice as was the breakfast. Unfortunately the boiler in our block broke down and we needed to move to a room in another building late in the evening. That boiler was working but had only just been turned on and it took ages for the room to warm up. My main concern is that the staff are dressed casually and don't wear name badges. Many are foreigners and some don't speak very good English. It's difficult to tell who is staff, guests or a contractor working in the hotel. This was disconcerting and unprofessional as it appeared no one was in charge or wanted to take responsibility. The guest's experience would be vastly improved if the staff wore name badges. This would have given the impression that we were in a proper establishment.

I had a wonderful stay at the Dolphin Hotel in St Ives! The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the town center and all its charming shops, and restaurants. The hotel itself is with spacious, clean rooms that offer stunning views of the river and countryside – it was the perfect place to relax. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. While the bar and restaurant were closed during our visit, it didn't take away from the overall experience. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and the hotel’s location made it easy to explore the area. I’d highly recommend the Dolphin Hotel for anyone looking to stay in St Ives – it's the perfect combination of comfort, convenience, and warmth. I can’t wait to return!

My husband and I booked a 1 night stay at the Dolphin Hotel, St Ives, Cambridgeshire. It was one of the best stays anywhere. The room was delightful, and the views were stunning, absolutely stunning. The personalised treatment we received from Liz and Eduardo was second to none. This is our second visit to the Dolphin hotel, and we're already thinking of our next visit. A truly wonderful place to stay with exceptional people, which helped to make our very short stay memorable. Thank you to everyone at the Dolphin Hotel...you really have exceeded our expectations.

This hotel is part building site part Fawlty Towers. We booked it for the riverside experience...on arrival it was closed, along with the restaurant. The bar was empty with the atmosphere of a midnight bus station. I went in for a nightcap but took the drink back to my room - no way was I staying in there.
