Family-friendly Hotels in Huidong

The hotel was nice. We were given a top floor room,it was really spacious, clean and had an amazing view!!Amenities and services just as advertised. The location was really convenient, lots of Chinese/foreign restaurants around. The hotel is right at the beach which is great (umbrellas and chairs were paid tho). The buffet breakfast was well organized, food selection was ok, nothing fancy. The hotel is a bit old and is lacking the feel of luxury but overall we were satisfied.

It's definitely not a 5* hotel, so don't expect much. The view is beautiful and breakfasts are more than decent. However, it's pretty much impossible to sleep because of the fireworks that literally never stop. You'd expect people to get tired and go to bed after midnight but no, the only quiet time is between 5am and morning. Well, if you wake up early, then never really. Also, it's the dirtiest beach I've ever seen in my life. So if you are looking for a good swim, look elsewhere. We were lucky to enter the water once during our 5-day stay. It's filthy, like you are swimming in a trash can.

We had a great time staying at the beautiful Howard Johnson Sandalwoods. The complex is large with many waterslides for young children to play in. However, during winter season most of the pools are closed. The beach belonging to the hotel is also clean. The breakfast spread is fantastic, with a good mixture of chinese and western cuisine. Mina the receptionist manager was very helpful in granting us special checkout extension till 3.30pm as my sister was feeling unwell during checkout and need more time to rest. I will definitely be back again and bring my children along.

(background: European but communicate fluently with staff in Chinese) The Sheraton welcomed us with a light-flooded lobby in traditional Asian architecture. A warm and relaxing impression. Location： The Sheraton is located between Xunliaowan (10min) and Shuangyuewan (30min), the two major tourist places on the peninsula. The hotel is located remotely, meaning no restaurants or supermarkets are close or outside the entrance. It shares the beach only with the Regal Resort, which is 1km down the beach. Therefore, its quiet and perfect for weekend-getaway from the busy city life. Facilities: The hotel offers 3-4 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool, some remain closed/not in-use (hard to tell). Food: The hotel has a lobby bar which offers drinks and small snacks. We ordered a coffee there to be served at the pool, which was challenging and took some effort, but finally possible. (Chinese speaker) The breakfast restaurant is located on groundfloor serving up to 10:30am. Apart from common Chinese dishes, I am interested in the continental food variety, here the hotel was offering very soft ”french style” baguette, 3 different types of cheese, and smoked duck breast as cold cut. Also, the hotel offered fresh salad buffet with a good variety including olives. For a 5 star hotel, I would expect fresh orange/fruit juice, which I could not find. The hotel offers a BBQ restaurant/bar at the waterfront, so we tried Shaokao around 7pm. we chose a 298Y package for 2ppl. The food quality was very poor and we had to return all sausages and ask 4 dishes to be put back on the BBQ. Any street BBQ tastes way better. First we were told all drinks are included, later a can of beer cost CNY40, So we had to pay additional CNY120. Disappointing experience for a 5 star hotel. Service: Concierge welcomed our taxi and opened the door, but did not offered any help for our luggage. Check-In took almost 20minutes (excluding waiting time) which is long for a 5 star hotel. We were told to go to the room, however, there wasn't clear signage where to find the right elevator to our room. Being at the pool, we tried to order drinks, as the hotel lobby is 10min away. It seems this customer wish is new to the hotel and we had to beg the hotel staff to find a solution for us. For a 5star hotel, I do expect being able to order/buy drinks/water at the pool area. The sunbeds at the pool needed cushions which are quite heavy and were located in a hidden area. (Hard to find for guests, so most guest just used their room towels on the hard benches). I would have wish that there is staff guiding/helping on that task. The F&B staff seems not well trained and supervised. Unfinished drinks have been thrown on the ground in the outdoor areas, food waste has been put in little plastic bags and clients tissues were used to clean tables and get them ready for next customers. We had to ask staff proactively to clean our table of used plates and bowls.

The resort is located about 50 minutes from Huidong South train station. Check in was smooth because we came midweek of the Golden Week holiday. We had a pool and sea view Family room with breakfast and other amenities included. They had quite a few pools in the water park area, the beach was closed off for most of our stay, supposedly a typhoon nearby. There’s a skyline pool, KTV, indoor playground, billiards, archery, table tennis, billiards all for extra fees. It was great the first 2 days!

We stayed here for 2 days and everything was wonderful!! Thanks Moris for the help the second day, the amenities are great, view from anywhere is beautiful and the service is perfect. Everyone is very friendly and helpful! Will be back again for sure!!!

The receptionist, Zhong Guanghai, has a very good service. During the whole stay, he can reply and provide assistance as soon as possible. Like it! ! ! The restaurant downstairs of the hotel recommended to us is good for the price, much better than the one at the entrance of the hotel. During the National Day holiday, I stayed for one more night. In the evening, there was a bonfire party and other programs in the hotel. The dolls were so happy. Overall, I was very satisfied during my stay! Will come again next time!

The room faces the sea and has beautiful scenery. There is a balcony with 180° full sea view. It is very comfortable to sit on the balcony during afternoon tea time, blowing the sea breeze and looking at the sea view. There is also a mermaid show (four time periods) in the lobby. Just downstairs is the beach, which is very convenient. The buffet breakfast is very rich, and you can bring a child under 1.2 meters for free, 1.2 to 1.4 meters is 58 yuan per person, and children over 1.4 meters are priced the same as adults.

The various facilities, supporting facilities and services of the hotel are not worthy of such an expensive price. The hotel is inconvenient to travel in the mountains. It takes more than ten minutes to take a taxi and it is difficult to call a taxi. Facilities: The facilities are OK, but the cleaning needs to be improved. There are water stains on the bathroom sink faucet. Hygiene: When I stayed there, I called at night to ask the service staff to come in to clean the spoons and bring the crib. The crib was thrown directly at the door and left after cleaning the pool with a dark face. It felt like I owed him money. Environment: It is more suitable to play golf if it is not friendly for children. The hotel lobby has a huge sand table for selling rooms, which is not at all the standard that a star-rated hotel should have. The hot springs weren't hot either, and the hotel staff said they wouldn't open if it rained. Service: The front desk staff was very enthusiastic when answering the phone and answering things, but they forgot to call me back every time. I stayed there for three days and the experience was very average. I will not stay here again!

The view and location are great. We had a lovely sea view. The room was large and the beds reasonably comfortable with good new sheets. The towels were new and substantial. The large fridge was useful but the freezer was frozen up and unusable. On the negative side, the furniture looked tacky and the wooden flooring had weirdly shrunk (unseasoned wood?) leaving wide gaps. The bathroom was functional but worn and tired looking. The sink leaked when we arrived but it was fixed fairly quickly. The room was not cleeaned nor beds made every day. They only provided two small bottles of water once per booking. The apartment block is enormous and being a fine example of cheerless cold, brutalist functionalism, confusing as it all looks exactly the same. Re the beach. When we arrived it was packed and as the cleantel seem to like their trash artistically enhancing the beach and accomaning them as swimming buddies in the sea, was a bit icky until mid week when the vast numbers of beach artistes had left. Both the beach and the sea then became boringly clean and less entertaining. In summary, it's cheap and cheerless and handy for the beach. It short, a glorified no frills beach hut that served its purpose
