We love afternoon teas and were really looking forward to afternoon tea at the Manor House. The room was lovely and the service was good but the food was a real let down. One of the savouries was a croissant with goats cheese and relish, when we opened the croissant it literally had about a teaspoon of goats cheese in it (see picture) For the price we expected the sweet things to be homemade and they weren't, I've seen the exact same frozen patisseries in other places which was very disappointing, not only that but it seemed like they were only willing to open one pack which were all the same flavour...blackberry, every one was a fruit and the same fruit. There should be a selection, chocolate, sponge, lemon, creamy etc even the choux bun had a blackberry filling, tough luck if you don't like blackberries. The 2 stars are for the room and the service, the food was abysmal.

My husband and I got married in The Coach House May 2025 and let me tell you, it was PERFECT. I could not have had a better day. The weather was beautiful, my favorite people were there celebrating, but it wouldn't have been perfect without Gemma and team who made the entire day seamless. From the months leading up to the wedding, consistent communication, delivery day of the wedding and even the after touches. When all was said and done, my husband and I made our way to our room and we received a personalized engraved bottom of champagne for us to commemorate the day. If you're considering getting married, Manor House is your place! My guests still can't stop raving about the venue!

One of our favourite places to dine we went to our first themed evening yesterday. The Italian Evening took place in the bistro where we were treated to a feast of fabulous flavours. The antipasti selection was fantastic, of note the authentic focaccia, delicious burrata and the lamb arancini. By the time the main course of osso bucca arrived we were already full! However it was delightful, rich unctuous gravy and the smoothest polenta I’ve ever eaten. The pistachio cake and limoncello zabaglione was a fitting way to end a tremendous meal. The service as always was attentive, the ambience really quite authentic!

Sunday lunch outstanding. Food fantastic, everything about it was amazing. Tasty, presented well, homemade. The environment of the dining room was also a great atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and very lovely with us. The Sunday lunch suited us parents, our teenage kids and a mother-in-law! Great afternoon. We even bought some tasty ribs from the BBQ outside, to have at home. What a great time!

Had a fantastic afternoon tea in the clock tower restaurant. My initial email was dealt with quickly and efficiently. We had such a warm welcome into such a gorgeous setting. The food was sumptuous, delicious and superb quality. Would definitely recommend

Dad and I had a wonderful time at the Lantern Restaurant and it was a really special way to celebrate dads birthday. The service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door and continued til the moment we left. The gentleman looking after us made sure our glasses were never empty and made sure our dietary requirements were catered for to perfection, which can be quite a feat but the food was wonderful. Cooked to perfection and served beautifully from the amuse-bouche to the desserts. The finishing touch was a really thoughtful birthday card from the team. That was really special and set the Manor House above and beyond on a unique personal level. Many thanks once again for a wonderful evening.

The menu was exceptional - Brioche, Pickled Walnut, Coppa Sea Trout, Pickled Cucumber, Ikura Manor House Venison Salami. Accompanied by Rosé De Saignée Brut, Champagne Virtuous Ale Sourdough & Whipped Pork Butter & Cultured Butter Orkney Scallop, Black Truffle. Granny Smith. Accompanied by Albariño Sobre Lías, Casal Caeiro. Spain 2023 Braised Halibut, Langoustine Velouté, Exmoor Caviar. Accompanied by Sancerre La Croix du Roy, Crochet, Loire, France 2023 Salt Aged Beef Fillet Bourguignonne Accompanied by Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir, Mariborongh. New Zealand 2021 Valrhona Chocolate, Blood Orange, Sea Salt. Accompanied by Tokaji Late Harvest, Oremus, Tokaj, Hungary 2018 Sweet Treats The creative combination of flavours and textures are the hallmark of the Lantern room chef, who always delivers inspirational menus. The staff are attentive, relaxed and friendly without being intrusive. The interior decor is stunning and the setting of the Manor a house is easily accessible but set back from the main road and in a little luxurious world of its own.
