We went to visit friends and decided to book this hotel, as it was local. I went to check in on my own, as my husband tried to find a parking space, as there are none, he had to park on the pavement on a busy road. The entrance is through a pub, which I felf a bit uncomfortable with, as I have never seen so many dogs in a bar. After reading the information about the pub, it seems they encourage people to take their dogs there. I had to wait to be seen, as there were three men at the bar ordering drinks. But the worst was yet to come. I could not believe it when they came to show me the room. It was up two flights of stairs and the carpets were absolutely filthy. So much so, that your feet stuck to them as you walked upstairs. On first sight the room was not too bad, dated, but seemed clean enough, although I noticed he had difficulty opening the door, as it was so stiff. He gave me the key and the keyring was a cardboard beer mat. When my husband saw the place he asked a member of staff if we could get our money back, but he told us that we would need to contact the booking company. However, I had paid with my debit card at the bar directly to the hotel. So, we tried to make the best of it. The wardrope door was hanging off it's hinges. There was one socket in the room and the bathroom light and extractor were filthy. The radiator in the bathroom leaked and when we got up in the morning the bathroom floor and carpet at the door was soaked. They don't serve food and mainly have rooms with shared toilet facilities. The room we had was en suite, but wasn't cheap at 79 gbp for the night. We complained about the room to a member of staff and asked if we left would they refund our money. But he said we got up in the morning, the bathroom floor and carpet outside the door was soaked. We have stayed in many hotels. luxury and basic, but this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Avoid at all cost. We'd have been more comfortable sleeping in the car.

The dining area was empty when we arrived, but we were early (12.00a.m) We have been to the Station Hotel before for a Sunday Roast, however on arrival we were told that traditional Sunday lunch was no longer available, just food from the main menu. Two of the party ordered pizza and two the Lasagne served with salad and garlic bread and one side of chips. I expect something more from Salad than limp rocket and other green leaves. The garlic bread was tiny, and just covered in a very pale spread of "butter." My vegatable lasagne was tepid. I complained and the meal was taken away. On it's return there had been some cucumber and tomato added to the limp leaves, but the bread and lasagne were till not hot. The rest of the party had finished their food and I could not be bothered to spoil the day further by complaining again. It would appear that the hotel has staffing issues in the kitchen. It is a shame, and we will not be returning.

Myself and my son stayed here for 1 night, we just wanted to have a base in the area for watching the other son playing in a hockey tournament. I phoned and spoke to them beforehand and the man was really helpful and informative. Usually I wouldn’t stay anywhere without an en-suite room however the en-suites were already booked. On arrival we were given room 3 which was a lovely large room, really nice condition and very clean. The bathroom just opposite was spotlessly clean also. Would definitely stay here again, not having an en-suite didn’t bother us at all.

Went here for a meal with friends. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food took ages to come out. It wasn't because they were busy. As far as we could see we were the only ones eating but after 40 mins we had to chase them up. Surprise it appeared almost immediately but was cold so it had been sitting for ages. They took it back to reheat. Had to be microwave as it came back hot but my scampi was like bullets and went cold again quickly. Given a one star rating because after complaining they addressed the issue in our favour but I am never going back there again for food

It's a typical pub menu but with a twist! The food is really good and full of flavour. Plenty to choose from, including gluten-free and vegetarian options, plus a children's menu. A good range of real ales to choose from plus plenty of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Well worth a visit.

Had Sunday lunch here , it was awful After enquiring about food they said it would be a 45 min wait, it was actually 1/30 mins before the food arrived, then we only had one knives so we told the lad who brought the food & he went of to look for one , & never came back so my husband went to the bar to tell them they just carried on serving people before actually getting us one when we started eating the food it was freezing cold , when we told the lad the food was cold he just said ok , he actually touched the food & said ohh it is isn’t but then just walked off My husband went to pay the bill & the girl said how was everything so he told her the food was cold & again she just looked at him vacantly & said that will be £££ Never again !!! freezing cold room that quite a few customers commented on to the staff Very poor food Overpriced Uninterested staff

One poor girl on the bar, serving, clearing away etc. She was very sweet. It wasn’t particularly busy. Food was mediocre. Curry had been stood and then heated as the chicken was dry. Disappointed as we had a lovely Sunday lunch before Christmas.

This place was recommended to me by a locally based fellow beer enthusiast friend and also because of "good bar meals". On arrival, it was empty cold and pretty cheerless. However, there was indeed a decent choice of ale. No menus on any tables and no blackboard menu. Asked the barmaid if there was actually any food and was given a menu, which looked pricey for "light bites", but having made the journey and being hungry ordered the sausage rolls. Quite a wait for them, given the lack of any other customers ( but I suppose that proves they were "freshly cooked" ) They were OK but nothing special and at £7.50 massively overpriced. Won't be back
