Huangshan Paiyun Hotel

Hotel was great - particularly as it's on top of a mountain - and that in itself is special! Costs for everything are expensive but fair considering the location. The room is fairly small (but very functional), you won't need space as you won't have luggage. Room comes with warm jackets and a torch so you don't need to bring those things for a sunset/sunrise. We were in what seemed like a newer block so the interior was modern. Shower was hot and decent. Breakfast and dinner (180 yuan per person) had impressive variety considering everything gets up the mountain on a cable car and then manually carried to the hotel. Location is good as it's next to the Taiping cableway but we walked from the popular Yuping cableway carrying small overnight packs. It is very possible in one day! We descended the next day via the Yungu cableway which was a much easier walk. Note the closest lookout for both is a 20min uphill walk with the path starting from the hotel (and another path for those who aren't staying there.) We saw a spectacular sunset and not much of a sunrise. Both were well worth it but of course you're at the mercy of the weather. Receptionists could speak basic English and will also give you bottles of water and communicate weather and sunset conditions to you via WeChat. If you can't understand Mandarin you can use the translate function in WeChat. Free laundry service too but we didn't use it.

Very nice place at the top of mountain. Near the peak to view sunset and sunrise. Staff can use English to support on Wechat very well. Food in restaurant is good. Staff also nice. Recomment to buy the buffet ticket for dinner (180y/pax) instead of À la carte (same food with buffet).

We had a pleasant stay here. Breakfast was sumptuous and the staff (Wei Wei) was extremely helpful and friendly during our stay. Wei Wei provided us with sunrise and sunset timing and probability of seeing it and planned our hiking route for us. We would definitely visit again if we had the chance!

Very modern and clean. Family room is very comfy with Mountain View. Very near to the sunset watching place but far from Guangmingding for sunrise viewing. Breakfast is very good and sumptuous. Dinner option however is limited unless you opt for the buffet. We bought a chicken burger which is not nice so you can skip. Overall, I would rate this hotel 8/10… recommend!

Before this trip, I had heard that the hotels on the mountain top were old, not so good. My stay at the Paiyunlou Hotel completely changed that thought. It was clean, modern, and offered everything I needed. As other reviews mentioned, there are warm jackets in the room. Breakfast buffet was included and more than adequate. The dinner buffet was 180 per person, and also offered plenty of choices. The food quality was pretty good, which exceeded my expectations. I had a room on the top floor, with skylight. The stairs were tough after a long day, since no lift, but no complaints. Highly recommend this hotel over the others!

Room 709 appeared to be smaller than that in the photo and was a bit noisy during the day. The bathroom floor was cracked. The front deck service was not remarkable. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay.
