Good location for tourist spots but quite noisy if you don't like the constant noise of beeping horns from the nearby road (not sure if it is even possible to escape this in India). It did get better between say 10.30pm and 8am). The train (immediately outside the hotel entrance) screeches by but not frequently, boat engines can be heard in the distance but it's on a river 😅. It was a bit of a party boat on some nights (loud and late disco noise if there is an event). The noise stopped at around 9pm one night but went on much later on another night; if your room is close to the bar it may be an issue was wasn't too bad for me as i use ear plugs. The most irritating noise, believe it or not, is people shouting or having loud conversations in the corridors. The room is 3* and there is no safe for your passport, cash, cards etc. The pillows, bed covers and floors were't cleaned particularly well. I had to help myself to consumables from the corridor as they weren't topped up by cleaners. Anyway, a very brief stay could be a good experience, one night maybe.I am pleased to have had the experience and despite the shortfalls would probably recommend it as a one off unique experience, for one or two nights. The breakfast was very good with lovely river views and a chill atmosphere.

It is a floating hotel I didn’t realize.
Very convenient and beautiful hotel
All staff were so friendly
For Instagramers, it would be heaven
Breakfast was brilliant with curry, nan, zapati and so many sweets!
It is floating but very comfy
Only 1 issue l, no toilet paper or tissue any place even inside a room
It would be India issue, not a hotel issue though
I LOVED THIS HOTEL!!
Definitely will recommend my friends too

My room was on a low floor and looking out onto the Hoogly - it was beautiful. And liking history I loved having an 18th century map of Calcutta on one wall. The room service food was very good. And a real asset is the hotel staff. I had an urgent laundry issue resolved in minutes by Promit from housekeeping - he was fantastic. Very customer focussed. I liked also the friendliness of the front desk staff. I'd stay again for sure.

The atmosphere and the ambience of the hotel is excellent. Also the members are very kind , polite and helpful. It is a perfect destination to visit with your family to spend some quality time. So if your planning to visit Kolkata then must stay at polo floatel...
