I recently visited Fordoun Spa, rated "luxurious" five-star spa, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. To my shock and dismay, my gold necklace was stolen from my Gown pocket, which I was asked to remove before going for my massage. As soon I realised I forgot to take it out from the gown I immediately reported the incident to the staff, but the way it was handled only added to my frustration. The communication was appalling. Instead of taking the matter seriously, the staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful. I was bounced around between different people, none of whom gave me a clear response or seemed to care about resolving the issue. I followed up multiple times, and each time, I received vague answers with no real progress. For a supposed five-star establishment, this level of service is inexcusable. Not only was my personal property taken, but the complete lack of professionalism and transparency in handling the situation left me feeling disrespected and ignored. I will not be returning and would caution anyone to think twice before visiting this spa, especially if you're bringing valuables with you.

Stunning and one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in the KZN midlands The amazing trees lined either side as your drive into hotel premises towards the reception sets up your entire stay to be peaceful and tranquil. The staff are ever friendly and helpful The rooms are stunning and outside landscape just amazing

Last weekend we stayed at fordoun thinking it's a 5 star accommodation. Below are the conditions of the unit. Blood stain on sheet. Flies that looked decaying on the window and shower. Clogged drain in shower plus worn out tiles in bathroom that didn't look 5 star. Unhappy as I splurged a lot of money considering it was our 20th anniversary 😪 Really upset.

I recently visited Fordoun and was absolutely blown away by the people and the property. Every single person was friendly and happy to help in any manor. The property itself is literally like a paradise, huge trees, beautiful views and such wonderful serenity that I could not believe I was still in the Midlands! The food at the Skye Bistro is phenomenal- I had the toasted chicken and mayo with chips but they have a wonderful menu with various options. The spa was my favorite, so much do see and do here, from the wonderful spa rooms to the indoor pool and even a gym, sauna and more, it was all very peaceful and exactly what a woman wants when she is on holiday. The accommodations were just as impressive, the superior rooms have a massive bath as well as an indoor and outdoor shower with a view of the Midlands. The room came with a fireplace and some very luxurious robes! Bed was comfy and the little tea and coffee station was perfect! I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area! You dont have to stay to visit the spa or the restaurant but I would treat yourself and just do it all!

We had an excellent stay at Fordoun. The hotel deserves it's high rating. After checking in we went for pre-booked massages at the Spa. The massages were good and the masseurs professional. The Spa's environment excellent. The hotel's restaurant offered good, wholesome dishes with friendly and efficient staff.

We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn’t fault the hotel. Our room was huge (superior room) and more of a standalone cottage, with everything you could need. Dining - all the food we had was excellent. We only had breakfast one morning due to travel plans but the hotel kindly made up take away bags for us on both the other days, despite us leaving around 6/6:30 am. Spa - definitely book, we didn’t and it was fully booked but the spa area was lovely. The only criticism I’d have is that we booked this hotel partly because it had a gym. The gym was at the end of the pool and had no air conditioning so was incredibly hot when you were working out. We loved the personal service, the owners gave us a fantastic recommendation for some local hikes.

we couldn't ask for a better destination, thank you and hope to see you soon. floor heating is the best idea since it is forever overcast and cold. I had to go to your spa twice because how I enjoyed the first one and didn't get enough. thank you

Fordoun hosted our event recently and everything was out of the top drawer ! The venue, the staff, the setting and the ease and grace with which the Fordoun team executed was 5 star !! Well done to the team !!

Top marks - from check in to check out everything was excellent Once off the main Rd it’s a wonderful 1km drive to the hotel. A good restaurant and lounges Breakfast and evening meal were most enjoyable Room was spacious and very comfortable. It’s also good walking area without straying to far from the hotel. Ample parking.
