From the beginning, the Cellars-Hohenort went above and beyond for us. The staff, management and property are exceptional. Nestled at the base of Table Mountain, this property offered a quite reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of dishes being offered and a continental spread available for starters. We will definitely come back and stay at this lovely hotel!

Quality, excellence, ingenious, creative, beautiful. Much enjoyed the meal here and ambience. Such a fine building and gardens with discretion and flair. Wonderful mix of vibrant contemporary interiors with classical Cape. Food was wonderfully presented. Recommended. Booking essential.

Stunning property with spectacular views and gardens. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The pictures do not do this Hotel justice…absolutely gorgeous grounds. I took pictures every day I was there because the property was so beautiful. Our room was beautiful with very tasteful decor. Lovely outdoor patio and fountains. Restaurant experience was consistently 5 Star. Great service and delicious meals. Drinks and wine selection were great. 15-20 minute drive into the heart of the city but well worth it if you have a car. Places you in a beautiful and lush area. Would highly recommend during a stay in Cape Town.

Excellent team. Good maintenance of the rooms. Very nice atmosphere. I was surprised how good even Capetown downtown and as well the airport can be reached from the hotel.

Had a superb stay and the most fantastic room. Room 44 is amazing. Clean and well appointed. Hohenort building is lovely and peaceful with stunning views. The landscaping of the gardens is natural and fits in with the environment. The ambience of the property is just right. Finishings such as the fabric, upholstery and interior design made it feel very luxurious. Special touches like the tortoise and the ducks gave it the X factor. Conservatory and reception staff were obliging and gave good service. However, there could be some improvements with the service in the pool area. More staff are needed here at peak times to address guests and their needs. Staff were often standing around and needed assigned jobs. Liz McGrath’s legacy is still evident. The special touches and village feel make this a great alternative stay to central Capetown.

We absolutely loved this boutique hotel. The room was large, nicely appointed, clean and very comfortable. It was also very quiet. We slept for 12 hours the first night as we were recovering from jet lag. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed wandering in them. We had dinner at the Conservatory twice and it was excellent. If you are there on a weekend, high tea in the Greenhouse is not to be missed. We enjoyed the ability to select a different tea with each of the four courses - and that the courses were served separately instead of all at once. The bar area is lovely with a large fireplace. One late afternoon, we enjoyed a bottle of excellent S. African sparkling wine in front of the fire, Staff were welcoming and ensured that our stay was perfect from start to finish. Since we have a son living in S. Africa now, we will definitely plan to return to Cellars-Hohenort each year we visit him.
