Really warm welcome. We stayed for a night, having an evening meal as well. one of the nicest steaks we have ever had. They must have a really good chef, the food was beautifully presented . great service. Breakfast in the morning was lovely with great poached eggs . thankyou very much .

On a business trip with three other colleagues, decided to visit here for lunch. The welcome was really friendly and the food that we ordered was really nice, I ordered the pork belly which came with veg and some sweet potato fries. My friends ordered chicken and fish and chips and was great quality food. They didn't have mash on the first night but on the second visit they did have mash but was made with about a litre of milk and wasn't mashed through but that was the only issue. We all sat in the bar after and stayed for a few hours. We sat on some lovely comfy leather sofas in the window, staff were really nice and accommodating. Would reccomend for some lovely food.

Beautiful pub, that’s about it. Pitch black walking to the accommodation, completely insufficient. Room was cold, musty, smelled. Towels damp. TV did not work (I reported x3 - no response) pillows and mattress, I think I could have slept on the bathroom floor and it would have been more comfortable. Breakfast - ordered eggs royal, got eggs Benedict. The other customer in there ordered bacon, egg and toast - waited 25 minutes and a toasted muffin arrived. The ladies at breakfast were nice and entertaining though. Overall, I would not stay here again, I was expecting a quaint wee stay in a country pub. But got a cold, damp, smelly room with no tv and damp towels.

I arrive at the Knife and Cleaver with high hopes and was greeted by a charming lady who showed me to my room: a cute room in the courtyard. Unfortunately, that was the high point! Whilst the room and bathroom were well appointed, the television didn’t work and any viewing would have been disturbed by the noise from tv in the next room! Dinner was a disaster. The garlic mushrooms were just mushroom pieces swimming in cream and no garlic. The rustic bread that was supposed accompany the dish were just two pieces of a white baton. MovIng on to my main course, I ordered the pork belly. When cooked properly, it’s delicious: when it’s cooked badly, it’s unpleasant. Regrettably my plate fell into the latter category with large amounts of flabby white fat - something you should NEVER see on properly cooked pork belly! The accompanying vegetables were unappetising and reminded me of school dinners. I should have heeded the warning from the next door table who, like me, had left most of their food. Is it an inability to cook? Is it the standard you get from the likes of Brake Bros? Is it just a drop in standards? Thank you the charming waitress for removing the starter from my bill. Would I stay here again: possibly. Would I eat here again: definitely not.

This is a pathetic excuse for a Hotel, rooms are pokey and well past their best if they ever had one. Bathroom was dirty, the shower was unclean with years of orange body fats /oils engrained into the grout. Food was well below par and very over priced. Breakfastvwas served be begrudingly, as if it was an annoyance. I reported faults with the Streaming TV Service, continually flushing toilet, unable to lock the door from inside and the hot water wast available. Terrible, disgusting establishment. DON'T BOOK THIS!

I visited the pub twice last week, once with a friend and second time with family, both days were very sunny, the pub inside and out was very quiet and there seemed to be at least 2 members of FOH staff working. On our first visit myself and my friend made our way indoors to order as there was no menu on the tables or signage to explain if it was table service or order at the bar. We went to the bar area and as we were inside we just ordered there, a club baguette and a fish finger sarnie (baguette so maybe shouldnt call it a sarnie). We then made our way back out side but struggled to find somewhere to sit as the garden area has ridiculous plastic/faux leather seat and table toppers plus they are situated under the wrong king of coverage that attracts heat rather than shelters it. We ended up in the top corner which is covered with perspex and seats around 8 people (there was 2 of us). Out food arrive pretty quickly and the sever was very pleasant (blond hair) she asked if we canted sauce then went to retrieve it, my club baguette was very odd as it had avocado and crispy onions on rather than Lettuce and tomato. I said to the girl and she just laughed it off and said our shef is baulgarian or polish or something and walked away. I was left stunned but didn't take it any further, took of the bits it didn't want and eat my baguette and drank my beer. I thought £42 for 2 baguettes and 2 beers was a bit of an expensive lunch. The next day we had been out walking with family who are local and we stopped of withfor a drink and a light bite to eat. There was 6 adults and 4 children. Asmy family had been the week previous they were aware of the children eat for £1 per eating adult. We made out decisions on what we wanted and when the server came she then advised us we could not get this offer from the lunch time menu (although they did the week before) we needed a little more time to decide what to do as it was lunch time we didn't want to eat off the Al a carte menu. We decided just to get a couple of share items for the adults and get an adults plain cheese burger and one kids meal to make use of the deal but just to share both of these between the 4 children. I made sure the server (young, black hair) knew it was a plain cheese burger and I even asked if it came with side salad which she confirmed so I asked if there could be no dressing on it. It took a really long time for the small amount of food to come out and by this time the kids were really unsettled, there was only one other table so really un acceptable. Straight away I noticed that the burger was chicken and there was no salad it was coleslaw. The sever was adamant we ordered the chicken royal as that's what she written down, I assured her this was not the case as I asked for cheese only and salad? She proceeded to say it was us to us what to do as the kids were unsettled it would take some more time to get the new one and the chef decided that burgers now come with coleslaw. The c

Stayed at this pub hotel just for one night for business. Was greeted extremely well all the staff very friendly. The room was excellent clean and was overlooking the outside seating area. As a local establishment, it is very well patronised. I dined in the restaurant in the evening and I must say the food was an extremely high quality the service once again from the staff in the restaurant was excellent. After a fairly good night sleep even though it was extremely hot I woke a fresh. Breakfast served by lovely lady who was extremely friendly we had time for little chat. Can highly recommend this place to stay. If I come back again for a holiday in this area I will certainly be booking here. A little gem in a beautiful village which you really should visit
