Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Hot Springs

Enjoyed the updated rooms. There was a place to hang your clothes but it was in the common area of the room and not in a closet. There wasn't much space for your hygiene inventory on the bathroom countertop. However, the room was GREAT with the latest updates. If you need to iron, go ahead and order one during your checkin.

If you're going to Oaklawn, it's a great spot and they do have a shuttle. PROS - clean, updated, offers a fair breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful (mostly), good USB and outlet access, has a shuttle CONS - With the updates came very little counterspace in the room. Bathroom is very small with basically no counterspace. If you hang your clothes, you have about 4" of a rod to hang them on. Towels were poor. The walls and floors are extremely thin - we heard everything going on above us, including every flush and shower. The bed springs also made noise with every move in bed. We had need to take shuttle to the convention center downtown, which they accommodated nicely for $5/pp plus tip (no problem). But when we called for a pick-up to go back, we sat for 30 minutes, called and was told he was on the rounds but no idea when he'd be there. So we opted for an Uber (which was about the same price). When we were delivered back, the shuttle was just sitting in the parking lot with no people on board. We went to the driver and asked if he ever got word to come get us, and he said no. Very frustrating.

We have stayed at this property in the past and had zero issues. This time when we stayed was the complete opposite. The first night we were there, there was some type of school event and so many kids. They were constantly running in the hallway outside our door. We were on the first floor, second room, so right next to the front desk. So, we know that the staff could see and hear everything that was going on as well. There were also kids staying directly above us who were running, jumping and playing in the room which was making it extremely loud in our room. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved due to the noise and they told us they could not move us because the hotel was booked. They said that they would speak to the kids and families. That just made it worse and they continued in the room above us and outside our door but now were much louder. We complained again at 10:30pm. This had now gone on for several hours. The staff was very rude and said there was nothing they could do about it. We asked for compensation for the night, they told us that that would have to go through ******* since that is where I booked through. We contacted ******* and they called the hotel to verify. Spoke to the same rude staff member Sandy. They were told they would have to speak to management the next day after 9am. ******* did follow through but the hotel manager refused to refund our first night, we only asked for our first night. This was our worst stay at any hotel ever.
