We booked a table for 4 on Wednesday 8th May. We have been here numerous times in the past but this visit didn’t come up to expectations. Numerous items on the menu were unavailable on the evening and the meals selected from the reduced menu were not to the same standard as previous visits. We selected neck oil to drink and were shocked at the price £6.90 per pint. We wont be eating or drinking there for a while.

For the cost of £120 for one night this place was Faulty Towers!! Truly dreadful. Our room on first floor facing a B-road was noisy as hell. Motorbikes and traffic roaring past at 90 mph almost constantly. (Earplugs even provided in the room.) But worse still was the condition of the place. The TV aerial cable was disconnected and so husband fixed that. Dressing table mirror fell off its hinge, so husband fixed that and re-tuned the TV. Coffee machine still had the last pod in it from previous guest and the water tank still had water in it with black bits floating in it. The machine spouts and tray were also filthy so had to clean it with antiviral wipes, but then decided much safer not to use it at all! One of the two single beds springs were completely "gone" leaving it with a huge dip in the middle, so it looked banana shaped from end to end. The other was only in slightly better condition. The pillows were like concrete. (Thankfully I took travel pillows.) The room was overly hot. The radiator/towel rail in the bathroom was on permanently and red hot. There was, alarmingly, also an electric cable running along the floor of the bathroom which came from underneath the skirting board from the room next door- a definite health and safety issue in a wet room. The toilet roll holder end, one side, had fallen off leaving an exposed metal spike. There was tissue paper wrapped around the overflow pipe of the loo and the light cord in the bathroom was filthy. There was just a 4 socket 13 amp plugboard perched atop the room radiator for power supply running off one 13 amp socket. The carpet had dark brown stains on it. The bath panel was badly cracked at the wall junction. There was definitely nothing learned from the COVID pandemic here. Breakfast was minimal. One slice of toast is the max no matter which breakfast you choose. Honestly, save your money - go to a Travelodge or anywhere but here!!! The only plus side was that the staff were friendly and the evening meal (paid £42 extra for) in the restaurant was good.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very comfy and clean room, nice large room, amazing shower, never had pressures like it, food is very yummy, my son, dog and me had a lovely time, a little road noise but quiet at night, comfortable beds so it’s soon off to sleep.

The Horton in is simply the best in the area. Friendly staff, great food and a fab a**osphere. My kids loved it, it’s surrounded by so much nature it’s was perfect for our family. We had a slight confusion regarding our rooms which was sorted effectively and explained to us… turns out it’s us who had made a mistake!😂 impeccable customer service, couldn’t recommend it more! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Very reasonable accomodation for a working trip, comfortable and well supplied. The food, very impressive, we had the steak option and while we could be picky about the quality of the meat, it, and every thing else on the plate was perfectly cooked and presented,,, I couldn't have said what was the best part! Just yummy! Come and enjoy :-)

Friendly, welcoming pub with a dining area. Lots of parking, and easy to find. Rooms decent size and comfortable. Good food, lovely breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Excellent value for money, nice food and lovely outside area too. Great for a stopover on our way to visit family.
