Best Hotels in Hope Land, Barbados

I had an amazing stay at South Gap Hotel. Zero complaints. The hotel is nice and modern. All the rooms have a breathtaking view of the ocean and the pool deck. The rooms also have a kitchenette and a full size refrigerator which is convenient. My room was cleaned daily and replenished with toiletries and new towels. The staff is very nice, helpful, and accommodating even prior to my trip as I had a few special requests. The hotel staff also assisted with airport transportation. The restaurant located on the lower level of the hotel wasn’t like your typical hotel restaurant. It was very good and the drinks were great. Although it isn’t an all inclusive, the food is very affordable. The hotel also provides a voucher for a welcome drink and a 10% off voucher for dinner nightly which can also be used at their sister restaurant a short distance away. The hotel is located in the heart of numerous restaurants and bars. The beach is also a short walk from the hotel. The hotel met all my expectations.

This was our first time in Barbados and our stay at the Crane was wonderful. We had a two bedroom unit with a private pool. The pool was great for lounging and cooling off. Our room was clean and exactly as pictured on the website. We got lucky on the sea**** as it didn't interfere with our beach plans. The Crane's private beach is beautiful and so relaxing. They also offered a free shuttle to another beach for guests wanting to go off the resort. We never had a bad meal during our stay and the rum punch is awesome. We had a great time at the Crane's Beach BBQ . The food and live music were really good. We ate at an earlier time slot and had lots of time to enjoy the bonfire. We went to a yoga class offered through the Crane's spa and the Crane's fitness center is better equipped than other HGV gyms. The local vendors at the resort had a nice assortment of items from jewelry to paintings. The lady selling clothes went above and beyond when she tailored a dress for my daughter. The Crane staff members were very nice and helpful. If we every get a chance, we will go back. Traveler tip ~ have cash on hand as a lot of places/vendors do not take credit cards. We highly recommend using Ezra for your transportation needs. Ezra and his drivers are professional, friendly and prompt with clean vehicles. Besides airport pick-up and drop-off and grocery shopping, we did a private island tour with Ezra.

The room was light and airy and king bed was beautiful and very comfortable. However, I can’t help think that the finishing of the shower was rushed as already the sealing of the tiles is discoloured and as the hotel only opened in October, this really should not be the case. The tiles of the shower are sharp edged in places and was not pleasant to feel under the foot. The food I would say was average. And I think there is room for improvement there. The salad at evening dinner was dry and the bread very hard. It is impressive the way it has been built and the sliding doors in the rooms are gorgeous solid wood. The balcony in itself was large and stunning overlooking the ocean. Cannot comment on the pool or it’s services surrounding outside as e did not use them. The hotel has a lot of marble which is impressive but caution on the foot when it has been raining.

We booked the Hilton Resort as it was ranked highly, however it was not to our expectations. Firstly I will start off by giving full credit to the hardworking staff who worked very hard with the limited resources they have and tried their very best to make the stay comfortable for customers. The staff at the entrance meeting / greeting, reception area, restaurants, pool area and house keeping service staff deserve full credit. I had to rate the stay as 2 out of 5 simply due to the management decisions. We found the following issues during our stay, as listed below: 1) We understand that nature produces sea ****s, and there is no control of sea ****s gathering on the beach perimeter with the waves. However, there was no process or maintenance in place to run a tractor every morning to gather the sea ****s and litter from the sand on a daily basis. You find other hotels in the Carribbean (my recent trip to St Lucia) where hotels maintain their beach area early hours in the morning ready for customers. This is supposed to be Hilton (a worldwide known brand). The beach standard was the biggest disappointment for us. 2) No variety of food on the menu. Some of the restaurants were closed due to the season. We actually got bored with the menu as it was the same things to eat and in my opinion very expensive. We saw other customers ordering take away from external restaurants, which was very surprising, maybe they felt the same. We also explored the option and found that more variety is available externally and the price of food is significantly less than what your hotel offers. We actually ordered pizza and snacks externally with delivery service and it worked out to be an excellent deal. 3) There was 3 of us (2 adults and 1 infant) and we were only offered 3 very small bottles of water to last us a day. We then requested for 6 large bottles of water and we were charged a rate of around 11 BBD each which equates to around £4.73, so in total we spent £28.38 on water!!! Water is a necessity of life and we were charged a silly amount, not forgetting the bottles we purchased during dinner. Sounds embarrassing but we should have purchased a multi pack of water bottles from Lidl or Tesco in the UK which would have cost us less than £10 and bought that with us in our check-in luggage. 4) There is something wrong with the lifts. There are a total of 4 lifts, and only 2 appear to work. It takes ages to wait for a lift. Again something small as this can become frustrating if you need to use the lift a few times a day. 5) The room Fridge door did not close properly as the gasket seemed to be worn. 6) No kettle in the room. We needed to boil some hot water. This is basic equipment expected in a hotel room. 7) No microwave available to heat food. If the hotel cannot provide a microwave in each room, then maybe the cost effective to install a couple of microwaves in the same room you offer self service ice to customers. Can't beat the location. Views from the balcony was stunning. Clean, safe, no frills. Staff were really really nice and helpful. What a great start to my holidays. Oh, and not too far from Oistens Fish Fry.

Lovely place. Really enjoyed the breakfast. Sometimes it’s buffet and sometimes it’s not, not really sure why. The supervisor Sheron is a beast, she seems to work every day and always got me what I asked for. Definitely recommend thus place if you’re travelling on a budget.

This hotel was exactly what we needed. From the beginning the service over the telephone was outstanding. Everyone was super helpful and kind over the phone. A special mention to Graham who arranged our taxi with Colin aka Taximan 246. Colin was right on time and took us safely to and from the airport. He was an amazing driver. We even hired him for other occasions. The staff in general was always wearing a smile and let me tell you CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. The rooms were spotless and bed was comfortable. We were right on the Gap which made moving around even easier. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that isn't looking for luxury but is just needing a very warm clean reasonably priced accommodation in Barbados and on the St Lawrence Gap. Accra’s location is the best. So many options around to dine plus it’s easily accessible to many of the tourist attractions. There is a supermarket right in front which is very convenient. The boardwalk is just 5 minutes walk and it’s one of the most peaceful places.
