Three nights bed and breakfast. What a treat. The room was cosy and clean. Comfortable beds and good tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful. Friendly and helpful staff. We ate in the pub every evening - meal deals (£7) on Tuesday and Wednesday, steak night Thursday. Ideal centre for exploring Selby, Beverley, York and the coast. Already planning our next visit. Thanks to everyone at The Old Red Lion

A difficult one to review as there were many good points but let down slightly by one or two things that could have been better. We had a two night stay and had evening meals in the pub on both nights which were very good. There was a good selection on the menu at reasonable prices and on one night there was also a very popular offer in a carvery style but wasn't a carvery on this occasion. The cooked breakfast was very good but the alternatives were very limited - a choice of 4 cereals. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The accomodation itself was a room and a bathroom and whilst ok for a short stay were a bit basic and probably in need of a bit of a refresh. The bed was comfortable. The sink had a plug which didn't work and water escaped almost as quickly as you put it in which made washing a bit interesting. The bathroom floor while basically clean looked like it could do with a thorough scrub and was a bit sticky to walk on. Unfortunately there was no WiFi available in the rooms although it was fine in the pub. Although we weren't told when we arrived we subsequently found out the a recent thunderstorm had resulted in a nearby house being hit by lightning and that also took out the mast that covered the rooms and they were waiting for it to be repaired. So overall it was a pleasant enough stay but could have been a bit better with just a little TLC to the accomodation.

My partner and I booked a 2 night stay via Groupon. We stayed in the Halifax pod. We really enjoyed our stay, the pod was lovely, spacious, comfortable and clean. Great shower. Instant hot water. The pub was great, lovely staff and the food was delicious. We ate on both nights and also had breakfast both mornings which was inclusive. Our only criticism was that we had to wait for breakfast the second morning as there was no table set up for us or another couple, due to lack of communication, but this was rectified after a short time. Overall we would definitely recommend The Olde Red Lion.

We stayed in the twin rooms, not the Pod; our room was number 6, with twin beds, heating, a large flat-screen TV, tea and coffee facility, and a nice, clean shower/ toilet; the beds were very comfortable. I will mention the door was a very tight fit and difficult to unlock due to the keyway; we heard other people having the same problem; this is a minor detail, as our stay was most comfortable. Meals in the Inn were of a good standard. I had Scampi one night and Strogonof Chicken the other night, and my wife had Hunters Chicken and Chicken with Stilton sauce; all the meals were plentiful with a high standard. Breakfast was four types of cereal, orange juice, tea or coffee, full English was served to order. Housekeeping was done to order. A special thanks to Becky the breakfast waitress and roomaid, who went out of her way to recommend places to visit. Eden Camp and James Herriot`s museum were worth the visit.

Nice clean room and great pub food. We stayed here for 2 nights on a groupon deal. We stayed in room 3 which was small but clean. There were no toiletries but we did have tea/ coffee making facilities and a large TV. The bath towels were big enough. The pub itself was great as many locals the village use it food food as it was always busy. They had a special carvery on a Tuesday & Wednesday night for £7 which was nice and good value along with a full menu. They had 3 ales on tap which I liked. The staff to our experience were great very attentive and very pleasant. We are going back again in May for 3 nights so we are looking forward to this. We noted some other negative reviews k. Here but we found nothing bad on our visit.
