Combe House Hotel

We absolutely loved our stay at Combe House Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel right at home. Gareth and Catherine are simply made for hospitality – the perfect hosts – and Lisa, Alexis, and the rest of the team were all incredible. The hotel itself is wonderfully cosy with a real "home away from home" feel. Our cavapoo, Ponyo, was so comfortable and excited to be there – it's clear that dogs are truly welcome, not just tolerated. Being tucked away in the middle of nowhere made it a dream escape – peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature. The food was absolutely amazing. As vegetarians, we were delighted by how accommodating the kitchen was, going above and beyond to create special dishes for us each day with plenty of variety. We’re already looking forward to coming back – it’s rare to find a place that gets everything so right.

Fantastic stay, 3 nights overall. Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, looking after lost property a relative left behind until we went later. Room was well kept and very comfortable. Food was good quality and reasonably priced - buffet breakfast included was plenty but cooked breakfast available for a little extra was very nice. Evening meal menu had plenty of choice. The hotel is in a fantastic area (Quantock hills) which gets overlooked. We will be going back at some point again!

We stayed two nights as part of our walking holiday. We were allocated a room on the ground floor with a conservatory on to the garden which was perfect as it was so easy for us and the dogs! We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was delicious.

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our wedding reception at Combe House Hotel, and we couldn’t have asked for a more magical experience. We had exclusive use of the hotel for two days, and it truly felt like our own private country retreat. The setting is stunning — nestled in the beautiful Quantock Hills, the hotel’s grounds and gardens are picture-perfect and created a peaceful, romantic atmosphere that our guests adored. The staff were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They made the whole weekend feel effortless, and their genuine warmth added so much to the joy of our celebration. Lisa and her team for coordinating the reception to making sure our guests were well looked after, they went above and beyond. The food was absolutely outstanding — beautifully presented, locally sourced, and full of flavour. Every meal across the weekend was delicious, from the welcome dinner to the wedding breakfast and the relaxed brunch the morning after. The rooms were full of character, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. Having the whole hotel to ourselves meant our family and friends could fully relax and enjoy every moment with us. It really added to the sense of intimacy and celebration. We are so grateful to Combe House Hotel for helping us create the wedding weekend of our dreams. It was everything we hoped for and more. If you’re looking for a venue with charm, warmth, and exceptional service, look no further. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.

The room was compact but very clean and the quirky uneven floorboards and slanted ceilings are all part of the charm of this small hotel. The gardens are pretty and great to sit in the sunshine reading, having a drink or afternoon tea etc. However for us there were two standout features of our short stay and these were the friendly, welcoming staff and delicious food which exceeded all our expectations. Great base for walking some of the Quantock AONB and also visiting Dunster Castle.
