Hotel Macondo Holbox

Guests appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, along with the excellent location near the beach and amenities, while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

First note! The staff are 100% amazing, kind and friendly. We took room 10, this is located on the lower level at the end of the walkway. It was fortunate that with this location we didn't have passing guest traffic walking past our room, so we felt like we were in a private area. The staff area was very close to us but we really didn't mind because we didn't meet a staff person we didn't like. The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard, with coffee left for the morning pot. We had to go buy water to make the coffee, but the tienda was not too far away to buy supplies. The location could not be more amazing, only half a block to the beach, we could see the ocean when we stepped out from the lobby. I must mention, this hotel is located very close to town, and is immediately in front of a hostel with a bar (located on the next street), the bar had music every night until midnight or just after. At the weekend the hotel is very full and noisy...why, because the stairs to go up to the higher rooms are directly behind Room 10. We could hear very loudly the transition of other guests and kids going up and down the stairs, sometimes for hours! The room above us, Number 11, was noisy, two times we had to request they stop walking and walking and walking across their room and moving furniture. the noise from this was incredible. Also, if you are allergic to pets this place is pet friendly. A room close to us had three large dogs staying with their owners, they left them alone at night to bark in the room until they returned. The hotel only has one hairdryer to share will all the guests, so it has to be returned to the front desk after use. Clothes quickly got damp and did not dry very fast, not at all in the room, we put some things outside to dry but they did not dry completely. Overall, our stay was good, we were located close to all we needed in Holbox, the only issue was the noise, and music from neighbors and other guests. Note: there is a lot of walking in Holbox on uneven streets and sidewalks, we constantly saw people walking to different areas of the beaches to the East and the West, honestly I got a little tired of the walking and the uneven streets. Don't wear shoes you value they will be destroyed walking around. Strong flip flops or sandals are advisable.
