Heritage Highway Motel

The bed was below standard. Hard and very uncomfortable. Cheap nasty mattress. Both nights the dog which I presume was the owners dog left alone over night( due to the owner being away and leaving a person to be there during office hours) barked incessantly during the night and early hours making it impossible to sleep. The person in next unit said he had the same problem when he arrived the day before us. I had to ring and tell person in charge at midnight to do something about the barking dog. Totally unacceptable to leave a dog on the premises unattended. Two nights of terrible sleep and definitely wont be staying there again.

Overall beds comfortable room tidy and warm enough. Disappointment was bathroom floor got very wet having a shower and even though says units were serviced daily they aren't. After being out all day getting back late to see unit hadn't been serviced and had to hang our very wet towels and soaking bath mat over back of dining chairs and suitcase stand to dry by heater overnight, one of which had a crack right through middle of it (was a wall panel type heater). Reading in info later it said units serviced Monday Wednesday and Friday. For the price we paid (which now seems cheaper on their website) was a bit disappointing. First time I have stayed in a motel with no service or change of towels. Was told when paying and leaving I was welcome to come and ask for fresh towels I didn't think I would have to. Office always had no one there was always locked and had to ring bell if wanted to checkout. Didn't see any motel people around during weekend stay. I have now seen room rates are different price than what I paid I paid a 1 bedroom rate but was in a studio unit. I wouldn't probably stay again sadly.

Stayed in a 2 brm unit. Unit is a good size. Bathroom large and comfortable. No noise from other units but train crosses the road with a very loud horn at just after 6am. Beds comfortable but couches in lounge well past use by date ... Springs/padding long gone. Not as clean as it could be ... Crisps down side of couch cushions. Very handy location to town.

We are doing a South Island tour. Rolled into town late on a Friday, Queen Studio was just what we needed. Clean, roomy, comfy bed and free wifi and sky tv. Walking distance to town centre and the beach

Big thanks to the owners Amy and Kent Routhan. Lovely big room, very clean. A beautifully maintained motel. Highly recommend. This motel is in town but no road/traffic noises. And very fair prices. Super close to centre shopping/eateries. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!

a standard motel, receptionist didn't see, too bothered, indifferent in fact. the unit was clean and tidy, laundry facilities weren't working, a bit of a problem after 2 weeks on the road. was a quiet location which was lovely.
