Fairhotel Hochfilzen B&B

Centrally located hotel in the heart of Hochfilzen. A very good breakfast, a very clean room, and a wellness area with a sauna and relaxation area. We weren't so impressed with the Tempur mattresses used by the hotel. It's also worth mentioning that the railway line is right next to the hotel. It's a bit of a nuisance if you want to sleep with the window open. The hotel staff is very friendly. The hotel is ideal for cross-country skiing.

Upon our arrival, we were initially quite disappointed to learn that there are virtually no dining options in the village itself, and that not a single decent restaurant is open on Mondays and Tuesdays anyway. Shopping options at the resort are also currently unavailable: the only supermarket, we were told, closed in May, and a new grocery store won't open until August. But that's all the negative things we can report about our ten-day stay. Thanks to the support and information provided by the fantastic hotel staff, we were never short of opportunities to do something enjoyable in our holiday region: Many, many thanks to Kati, Marika, and "the boss" Hans: You are a fantastic team – my wife and I have never experienced such friendliness, courtesy, and helpfulness before! Very helpful was the information the staff gave us on the day of our arrival that, with the hotel guest card issued to us, we could use Tyrol's public transport, including ÖBB trains and buses, in the area between Wörgl and Hochfilzen for free. The Hochfilzen train and bus stations are only a five- to ten-minute walk from the hotel, so we took advantage of the free bus and train rides almost every day. The following excursions are worth mentioning: St. Johann in Tirol, a pretty little town with many lovely little shops and an appealing range of restaurants. In the town center, there's an inn with a cozy beer garden, the "Dampferl," where we often went for a beer or a meal. Also lovely was our visit to the "Turmstüberl" of the Huber Brewery, an outdoor terrace on the fifth floor of the brewery with fantastic local cuisine and a breathtaking Alpine panorama. In St. Johann, you shouldn't miss a ride on the mountain lift up to the Harschbichl Alm – at €22 per person, it's not exactly cheap, but the ride itself and the fantastic view from the Alm are worth the price. Kitzbühel-Hahnenkamm, with shops more geared towards the "upmarket" (Gucci, Prada, Cardin, etc.) The Schwarzsee near Kitzbühel: here you can enjoy a relaxing walk around the lake and a beautiful panoramic landscape. There are also some lovely excursion destinations within walking distance of the hotel: If you're a good walker and don't mind a rather challenging one-and-a-half to two-hour climb, you should definitely visit the Hoametzl Alm, with its beautiful panoramic views of the Alps and excellent Tyrolean home-style cuisine. The Alm is located on a mountain directly opposite the hotel. If you don't want to go quite so high and don't mind a challenging climb, a walk to the Seealm, located on a hill opposite the other side of the hotel, is a good option.

Very nice apartment with a fully equipped kitchen. There were no dishes, dish soap, or towels missing. The Tempur mattresses are highly recommended and can be tested in the sauna and relaxation area. Great breakfast! Great location near the cross-country ski trail!
