Hotels near Derwent Park Homestead in Hobart

I stayed here briefly (plumbing problem at home) so cannot comment on sleep quality. I had room 23, which was tiny (it was advertised as small) and had a double bed. Bed linen was clean and appeared to be good quality. Towels on the bed were folded in a most bizarre way, and they appeared to have been thrown down and crumpled, but were meant to actually look like that (reminded me of a sea creature.) The room was clean, as was the bathroom, with the exception of the entire floor of the shower bay, which was a yellow/tan colour. Maybe it was clean, but if it was, then it was obviously stained and really needs replacing. It was extremely off putting. Walls are thin and I heard the person in the next room showering. The male at Reception was quite dour. I did not have to stay the night as my water problem was rectified so I went home. Good value, but I would not stay here again. The room smelt of cigarette smoke, even though the property is non smoking.

Basic room but very clean and well appointed. Very close proximity to all amenities of the cbd, uber eats was able to find us quickly and without hassle, also the establishment is very quiet of a night. The bed was comfortable and there was free Wi-Fi, for $85 a night, so close to everything and presented in this manner, I would happily recommend to anyone I know and will be staying again when we are down again. The only recommendation I have for the owners/managers is the shower cubicle itself is very small and I'm a tall guy and big build too, so moving around to shower was a bit hard but otherwise that's it. We could not have been happier about our two day stay at the Argyle Motor Lodge in Hobart. Located about 35 minutes walk (all downhill!) from Hobart's waterfront, it has ample free car parking, big rooms and a friendly and helpful set of reception staff. There was a laundry for guest use ($7 AUS including detergent!) and our lage room had a fridge (with milk), kettle (tea and coffee provided) a hair drier, good wardrobe space, a large bed, a table for eating or working and a great bathroom with a bath and a shower. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and our room was serviced nicely too. Close by was a superb bakery serving drop dead gorgeous croissants and pastries and coffee/te which made a splendid breakfast. I jogged down to the waterfront one morning (and back, uphill). But we did have a car with us, which made moving around easier. We paid £237 for two nights bed only. A bit expensive - but not compared to other Hobart prices!

A little bit out of the way of shops etc but has a pub right next door for a drink and meal. The room was comfortable and had evrything you need (except towels which they promptly got when asked) Not the flashest place but did the job with friendly staff and easy parking,

A house has two rooms and 4 people. The dining room is large, the cooking is convenient, the facilities are very complete, there is a dishwasher, and the washing machine dryer is also added. The lady at the reception was very nice, helping to book a ticket to Bruny Island.

Nice apartments in quiet area of Hobart. Pretty grounds with lots of greenery. In a central location, clean, all amenities available. Good laundry with an outdoor clothesline enabling clothes to dry very quickly. Enjoyable stay.

Had a recent stay for 3 nights and found it really enjoyable. After a little confusion with parking the car due to street it is located on being a bus thoroughfare, valet parking was prompt and we found we didn't need to get car out again. Great location in the centre of town and easy walking to everything Hobart has to offer. Rooms were very clean, although a little small, bathroom was a generous size although water did flood floor when showering. Did have to order another pillow as ones in room were rock hard. Breakfast was very yummy and buffet option that was offered had more than enough to satisfy. Gym was small with just enough equipment to do a workout. The Chocolate Hour was a bit of a letdown, not what we expected, but still another point of difference. All in all, a really nice stay and we'll certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We have stayed here on several occasions and previously wrote a glowing review not long after the property had opened. Our last stay was more like Fawlty Towers. I have sent a private email directly to Maylands Lodge more than two weeks ago and there was no response. I don't know what has happened to Mayland's but I would hate a potential visitor to consider my previous review and make a booking based on how it was then. Firstly our room wasn't cleaned. There were clothing labels and hair on the floor from a previous occupant. The milk in our fridge expired the day we arrived and was actually lumpy. There was only plunger coffee offered. Breakfast was no longer on offer due to staffing issues although we still payed for breakfast as part of the tariff. There was no partial refund or vouchers for breakfast elsewhere or breakfast hamper offered. Plumbing issues in the room next door continued until well after 11pm and then the wind caused the hallway door to bang throughout the night. It was possibly the worst night's sleep I've had since my children were small. We actually considered forfeiting our second night and staying elsewhere to get some sleep. Also the car park was no longer secure and the gates remained open all night. To be honest - I'm unhappy to write such a poor review and that's why I initially sent a private email to Mayland's and I have no idea what is now going on with this premises but we certainly will not be wasting our time and money by staying here in the future when there are such lovely accommodation offerings within the city.

We booked two nights in April. We could smell the room before the door was fully open! Body smells, dirty smells, old stained carpet smells! The furniture was ancient, worn and not clean looking. The bed cover had holes and looked like a dog blanket. It felt like a marshmallow and I didnt dare look at the mattress to check if it was clean. The carpet was badly stained all over and the bathroom needed renovating 20 years ago. We felt awkward but couldnt stay there so chatted pleasantly with reception who admitted the room did small and they had another rom with a new carpet and new mattress. The new room did not smell as bad but the carpet was stained worse than the first. The bathroom was ancient and melamine pealing and missing in parts. We simple couldnt bring ourselves to stay there and asked for a refund [eve if just for one night]. We did not get a refund and the owner stobbornly kept referring us to Booking.com for our problem. They emailed her that night and she never replied to them. Reading reviews later I saw that at some time the place was used as a *******, maybe that explains the copious stains. We ended up paying 2 nights accomodation and booked elsewhere. I telephones the owner and asked why she didnt reply to booking.com so we could get a refund, suddenly her english wasnt as good as it was when we met!! She didnt offer anything. I suggested she use our money to buy a new bedspread! My only regret was that I was so shocked by the state of the room I forgot to take pictures to share with you.

This hotel met all our needs for the 3 night trip to Hobart. I would stay here again. It's centrally located to many things in town. The staff we met were all extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfy. Bathroom is small, but its not like its a place where we spent a lot of time so it gets the job done. My two suggestions would be to add a shelf in the bathroom where one could place their stuff and add an overhead light so you could turn on the light when you came in the room. If you're a modest traveler who doesn't need a lot of frills or ton of space but looking for a clean and cozy place to spend the night, you'll like it just fine!
