Hotel Suite Hiroshima Hakushima

What a brilliant find this place was! We visited Hiroshima for two nights during a tour of Japan as a family of three (two adults and a seven year old, from the UK). After a stay in a very cramped Tokyo hotel room earlier in the holiday, we were very appreciative of the apart-hotel style of this accommodation. Enough room to relax at the end of the day and unpack a bit, hang clothes up , storage for shoes etc. We loved the novelty of the third bed on the mezzanine level, as well as having a balcony (we were on the 11th floor). It’s only a short taxi ride from the main train station (1000 yen door to door). The welcome from the lovely man on reception was very warm and friendly, and he was so helpful and immediately made us feel at home. The accommodation is clean and the shower was good; loads of bath towels. We appreciated the kitchen equipment, fridge/freezer and sink with washing up liquid so we could self cater for breakfast and snacks. There’s an ice machine downstairs, as well as basic toiletries supplies in case you have forgotten things. You are close to both the end of a tram (streetcar) line, bus routes and also a train line that goes out to the ferry for Miyajima island, so transport connections to key sites was easy. The reception staff also kindly arranged a taxi for us to the station when we checked out as well. Minor downside is that the apartment windows aren’t massively soundproofed so we experienced a bit more traffic noise at night here than in other hotels we’d stayed in during our trip to Japan - however, noise is intermittent rather than constant so it’s not an issue. There’s a great okonomiyaki restaurant over the road too, as well as a kombini (Family Mart) over the road for basic supplies, breakfast stuff etc. Would definitely recommend and I wish we could have stayed there for longer!
