There are at least two full days worth of things to see in Hiraizumi and this hotel is centrally placed between two key attractions — Motsuji and Chusonji. Do order the breakfast and dinner since other dining options are spars. The food is especially good for dinner, with a nice array of Japanese dishes. The onsen is not top tier but pleasant.

There are few restaurants in Hiraizumi City itself. This is a very retro Showa-era inn. Although the appearance is unremarkable, the service, food, interior, etc. have not deteriorated with the passage of time... The only drawback is that transportation in Hiraizumi itself is inconvenient, so if you are tired, the hotel will be a little far away (about 15 minutes). Maybe you can contact the hotel to pick you up? However, the hotel has a special car to pick up from the hotel to the station, which is very commendable

All the staff were friendly, the hotel was good value for money, and the food was good. This is my second visit.

Great location as it is walking distance to the station to the world heritage sights on both sides .the building is an average common concrete structure but the rooms are nice and quiet. The hot spring bath is nothing special but the food is very good. Lots of choices and very fresh local ingredients. Staff were helpful to get me to the station in time to get on the train to Hokkaido as I had spent so much time walking around the temples and historical sights that it as late. This town has so much to offer in its historical sights but very little to offer in other accommodation or eating places. Basically it is not a tourist town yet it has great historical tourist sites.

This is a traditional Japanese style hotel with Futon bedding. Yakuta can be worn to dinner unlike in other hotels where it is preferable to be worn in the room only. We received a very friendly greeting and welcome from the cheerful manager on duty. He was so helpful and pleasant. He was appreciative of the basic Japanese we spoke which was encouraging to practise more! The room was sweet with the futons. Welcome matcha and traditional sweet in the room. The Onsen is good with water at just over 41c. Products available to use. Take the towel from your room. Note that the ladies and gent Onsen change, not always daily: red towel for female and blue for male. Resting area too with massage chairs etc. Dinner -set dinner, so beautifully presented and quality ingredients. So much to eat. Local sake is very smooth and reasonable in price. Breakfast has a good range of Japanese food, lots of fish and pickles. "Western" options are available on the buffet but as I didn't eat those I cannot comment. All staff very friendly and helpful. For sure, as others have said, the hotel does need a refurbishment and in places it is very tired and worn. However the important issues like cleanliness, hygiene, professional, efficient staff etc are all in place. Well placed for the temples and walking. Very convenient.

I was planning to stay there on October 12th after going to Hachimantai. I heard that there was a school trip, so I requested a cancellation at the school's request. I was at a loss, but the hotel introduced me to another inn, and for two days they were so kind that I thought it was a sightseeing taxi, not only providing transportation to and from the inn and Hiraizumi Station, but also providing information on Chusonji and other sightseeing spots in the surrounding area. I did. It was actually quite humbling. I was really impressed by the personality and customer service of the manager and staff. I am grateful.
