We had a blissful three days here enjoying the peace and beauty of a tropical lagoon. We are an older couple and not confident swimmers so we found the best way of exploring was by kayak. Other guests ventured out further for snorkelling, but around the island it is a bit shallow. There are all sorts of trips you can take but having found a piece of paradise we saw no need to go anywhere! We did find a nice swimming/wallowing depth area around the umbrella point. The beauty of the resort is that it is not a hotel as described in detail by Kelly a month ago. Endorse everything she said. We found ceiling fans and the tropical breeze quite adequate. Food is delicious and dinner depends on what Max has caught from the lagoon that day. Dorianne is a delight and her homemade breakfast jams delicious. Zizi(?) the other cook also gives a great massage. Scrupulous attention is paid to guests health and welfare. I have dietary needs and I got prompt and helpful replies by email in advance of arrival. For us 3 days was about right ( it is a very small island, but that is the attraction)

Great place to relax and Enjoy sea life. The people who take care of the place are really incredible. The lady is very nice and helpful. The man is an extraordinary cook. I Will recomend this place to anyone and we will come back for sure.

The island is beautiful and immaculate. The few bungalows are sufficiently spread out that it feels secluded and private. The lagoon is beautiful. The staff is friendly and welcoming. They arranged a nice boat trip for us and were able to switch to a car tour of the island at the last minute because the conditions were very windy. Hard to ask for more.

Paradise! With just 5 bungalows, this tiny private island was the highlight of a short trip away from the bigger islands with larger hotel chains at premium rates we were very happy with our choice to come here. The new owners Alexandre and her husband were very warm hosts and made the extra effort to accommodate our vegetarian food preferences with some very good meals. Water is not so deep surrounding the island but kayaks are available and there are some small coral reefs for exploration with snorkels. Wi-Fi available in restaurant / reception but not in rooms. Bungalows all have same layout / size with great balcony and separate bedroom / small living area. Fans only (no A/C) but this was ok for us. Few mosquitoes. Incredible views. Highly recommend for those just wanting to fully unwind in a dreamy location.

If you want a perfect, unforgettable French Polynesian experience, you must stay at La Pirogue Api!! We snorkeled around the motu (little island), kayaked over beautiful coral, ate delicious dinners, took an unbelievable full-day tour of Taha'a (arranged by the lovely staff), and made memories here to last us a lifetime. If you want to detach from reality and live in paradise for a while, book a bungalow here. You will not be disappointed.

We stayed here for 5 nights in September and absolutely loved it. We stayed on 5 different islands on our month trip to French Polynesia and this was our favourite accommodation. Manuel is super helpful and very charming in a quiet manner. The food was absolutely wonderful. Someone wrote that the bungalows are rustic. One man’s rustic is another man’s luxury! We felt it was pretty luxurious. Yes, no air con but we didn’t need it. Cleaning staff were fab and I liked that the room was cleaned when we were at breakfast. Nowhere else did that on our trip. We rented a car on both Tahaa and Raiatea. Tahaa is nice but Raiatea is absolutely spectacular. Definitely worth doing. When we were there most of the guests were English speaking which was nice and made a change. Thanks Manuel and Marine for such a wonderful stay. We miss your Mai Tais!

We stayed one night with our two adult children and wished we could have stayed longer. Our bungalow fit everyone perfectly and the location could not have been more incredible. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. Would love to return!

Spent 3 nights at this beautiful place. It really is spectacular. Manu and Marine are fantastic as are their team. The food was divine, rooms very comfortable and to sleep listening to the sounds of the waves in the distance. Kayaked over to the uninhabited island, used the paddle boards, snorkelled and also did the day trip to Taha'a to take in the pearl factory, distillery, vanilla plantation and snorkelling in the coral gardens as well as lunch on another island. Most people seemed to do 2-3 nights. In hindsight, I really wish we had done 4 or 5. The feel reminded me of the Maldives of the 80s and 90s but with the added bonus of gastronomic food and hot showers.
