It doesn't take much to send your bar staff on a cocktail course and buy a ice crusher to make a margharita. Please don't advertise it if it can't be made. Very expensive too considering it tasted of soap and had big chunks of ice floating in it and a slice of lemon and not lime. I chose to stay for two nights as a destination hotel rather than 'just a hotel near the airport' so I suppose you could label a 'service' hotel but I have felt after being here for one day and one more night to go, it is not a place where people want to create or make relationships as I have felt it being rather a 'no' environment. I have done my best to be friendly but felt a little bit like more of a nuisance for wanting to create more relationships as a solo traveller especially when at 10 staff started to clear breakfast before I was even finished at 10.30 and then looked at a plate I had taken with me to my room as if to say 'you shouldn't be taking that' when it felt too uncomfortable to finish it in the main room. I may be unusual in my longer stay but I have still paid and a good customer and travel and stay in hotels a lot. The price is a good deal but that should still reflect good service. There should also be instructions on how to work the tv as I couldn't and then I met two ladies who had sat in the lounge for 4 hrs because they also couldn't work it so I helped them out. I train staff in friendliness and not saying they weren't but in my opinion, their needs to be a bit more approachability for a hotel near a major London airport with such incredible facilities such as a roof terrace overlooking the runway. It feels a bit like it has been forgotten and just left to be as it is as a very small part of the large Thistle Hotel Chain.

Mercure London Heathrow - Saturday 19th November 2022 - 15:15 Entrance is on street level door and has automatic doors. On arrival there was a coach party queuing and the queue went out the main door. I joined that queue and eventually checked in approximately 20 minutes after I joined the queue. The male receptionist seemed flustered and the female receptionist didn’t seem to be doing much. I’ve checked into other hotels where I have been part of a coach group and they normally make us all stand to one side and then call individuals/ couple over to check in; that way when other guest arrive at least one of the receptionist can switch to the new guest and then they don’t have to join a long queue and be inconvenienced. Our room was on the ground floor but I did see lifts. Room: The usual things like a hairdryer, iron in the wardrobe, fridge and safe in a cupboard and on top of the cabinet was the coffee/ tea facilities but no spoons to stir your drinks. Big TV - there seem to be a decent amount of channels my only issue was the back of the control was missing so you had to jiggle the batteries to get it to work; I took a photo just in case they try to charge me for damage. Bed was comfy, pillows were ok. There is a lamp and spotlight either side of the bed. The switch on the wall by the bed operates the main light, you switch the lamp/ spotlight off using two black buttons under the arm of the lamp; not an obvious way to control the light. A desk with lamp and phone, quite handy if you have some work to do. Bathroom: Floors a bit weird, it looks like they have stuck some Christmas paper over the original tiles to cover something up, poor workmanship, looks cheap, not a good look. Usual towels and shampoos and things; I was going to use the bath mat in the shower but when I saw how dirty and stained it was I didn’t bother. The sealant around the sink and bath taps needs redoing and there is rust around the bathroom taps. Toilet handle is a bit loose and it took 3 attempts to get it to flush. Parking: There are two levels to the parking, I drove into the top level, very tight parking and for a hotel of this size there isn’t enough spaces. I informed the reception I’d parked my car and was informed of the £16 charge for 24 hours. I paid my fee and entered my registration on a system. Bar: Small bar but plenty of seating. We asked a member of staff at what time the bar closed and we were told last orders were at 22:45 which would imply if you went to the bar at this time you could still get a drink. At 22:40 they were cashing up the till. Initially when you walk in the room it looks really nice but then you notice the faults. This morning I went to get something from the car and as I walked through reception you could see the tables from last night hadn’t been cleared as they still had glasses on tables from last night. We checked in at about midnight. Front office staff was friendly and helpful. He changed my room promptly after informing them the noisy fan coil.

Stayed here for 5 nights (Sep 17-22). Check in was the better part: easy and friendly front desk although no acknowledgment of being a Bonvoy member (not big deal). However, I forgot to ask, and they did not give me the WiFi code; more on that later. Room was fine upon entering. But then started to notice things: dead light bulb, dust on the nightstands, top of the desk with peeled skin (wear and tear), and of course the TV. Now that is something from the 1990s: a 30 inch old TV, grainy picture, and a very limited number of channel with only BBC and a couple showing very old movies from 1980s. You can only watch SkySports at the bar but not in the room. The next day I ended up taking a shower in a puddle as the tub did not drain well. I told the front desk and the staff who happened to be the manager took very good notes and said he’d have it fixed right away. Well, after coming back in the evening, I checked the tub and sure enough still clogged so went down to the front desk and another staff member (appeared very embarrassed) spent a few minutes and then offered to change the room. So, after about 30 min fiddling with the reservation system on their computer we moved into another room. For some odd reason my 5-day visit was done under two reservations: 4 days as one and the last day as another one. On the 4th day reception called to move me into a suite due to the 2nd reservation. I talked to the Front Desk staff and offered that staying at the same room for the same rate was fine. The junior staff agreed as the room was available and started processing but then ran into a problem on their computer system. He asked his manager for help and he promptly rushed by, summarily waved his hand, completely ignored my presence, mumbled something like “it can’t be done,” and walked away. The junior staff was clearly embarrassed and apologized and said he'd ask another hotel manager to keep me in the same room. I asked for the manager’s name (Lloyd) and said that his behavior was rude, not professional, and not that of somebody in the hospitality business. Lloyd showed up after the room situation was resolved and apologized for his behavior. Frankly, nobody needs drama, disrespect, and being treated like a nobody. After all, I was a paying guest and a long time Marriott member!! New room was a copy of the old room except the drain was not clogged. Then the next day I noticed the bathroom bulb was dead. Called the Front Desk from room, but nobody would pick up. Within a span of 30 min I called several times but nobody would pick up, so I walked down to report it to the Front Desk. Problem was solved next day. And now the WiFi: could not find the WiFi code so later called the Front Desk but again nobody would pick up. Another in person trip down to the Front Desk and asked why they wouldn’t pick up. Answer: oh, we didn’t see the phone ring! During the entire stay the corridor on our floor always had a minimum of 3 room servi

Actually had stayed at the other Ibis further down the same road, the room was bigger and the alcohol was far more reasonable in price. The staff seemed more interested in chatting with their colleagues than helping me check in, I had left them earlier and just wanted to check in to my room. Very frustrating having a poster with a pint and a pizza, and then when I asked for it, we are not doing it... Check out lady this morning was delightful.

Love this hotel stay here every time we visit london. Rooms are a good size for a family of 4. I visit withHubby and both my 7year old and 4 year old. Excellent leisure facilities! Has a lovely swimming pool which always has a decent temperature alongside a sauna and a gym. Excellent changing rooms but found to be very cold when entering. This hotels has excellent staff working here and this visit was by far the best. I had a lovely warm Top class female named Priti check us out. Priti had very good humour and made us smile she was very helpful and mentioned we still had complimentary welcome drinks left on our room stay which we had before we left. Very professional and excellent communication skills from staff here. Attentive and very helpful never appear to be stressed. Go far and beyond. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to stay on my next visit which will be in October term.

Wonderful friendly staff and a great selection of freshly prepared food including delicious creative salads as well as 3 hot dishes! Particularly loved the beef stew and spinach arincini and the mooli and chickpea sauce. Children loved the red velvet and banofee tart! Well done Chef Valentina and team- thank you for an awesome evening. We will be back.

Although I reviewed this hotel back in June, I thought I would give an update on our last, and definitely final, visit to this hotel. In July we stayed at the Sheraton for one night and parked our car at the hotel for 3 weeks. After midnight, when we had gone to bed, we heard a high powered car being revved and raced around the car park. Yes, someone was using the car park as a race track, using the cars parked there as the edges of the track! Someone else was taking pictures on their mobile phone. We contacted reception, who sent out a security guard and another member of staff. They, however, obviously knew the people racing the car and had a good laugh and joke with them before returning to the hotel, leaving the racers still revving their car and taking photos. I took photos too (attached). My wife was incensed by this total lack of interest from the hotel, and stormed down to reception. One of the people who had gone out to the car was there, plus the duty manager looking rather sheepish. They apologised with a grin on their faces and seemed to think that it was totally acceptable to them that this was going on as the people racing the car were members of staff!!! An incredible attitude. And it was obvious from their reaction that this was not a first time occurrence. Realising that we weren't going to get anywhere with the totally useless members of staff, and as by now the racers had left, we decided to raise the problems with a senior member of staff the following day. A couple of the managers we spoke to on the following day were disgusted at what had happened the previous night. Unfortunately they had already handed in their resignation as they weren't happy with the way the hotel is being run. So decide if you're happy to leave your car at a hotel that condones its staff using the car park as a race track and what damage they could do to your car. Remember, any damage to your car is not the responsibility of the hotel, even if it's their own staff who have caused the damage! Please read the other reviews regarding cars being damaged at this Hotel. I posted a review on the Marriott website and received a very defensive response from the front desk duty manager. She apologised for the fact that staff were racing cars in the car park but didn't seem to really take it seriously. This experience, combined with the non-working air conditioning in the bedrooms, the tvs in the bedrooms that often don't work, the gaffer-taped tatty old carpeting in the hallways, the scruffy pool area that is hardly ever swept clean, the downgraded quality of the Club Lounge and the withdrawal of the Club concierge service seems to be indicative of a company seeking to justify changing the branding of this hotel to one of Marriotts budget brands. However, they're still charging 4 star prices for a hotel that now struggles to give one star service. Shame on you Marriott for ruining a formerly very good quality hotel. The hotel itself looks and feels luxurious. Although it is on the pricey side, I couldn't complain with regards to the location. It has it's own walkway connecting to terminal 5. Convenience and service wise, it's a 5 star!
