Hikone Castle Resort & Spa Reviews

After a crowded Kyoto, I love the peaceful and tranquil environment of this beautiful onsen hotel-ryokan and charming castle town. Everything about the hotel speaks of relaxation and well-being. It's only a 7-8min walk away from Hikone Train Station but there is a hotel shuttle that leaves at 9, 10 and 11 am if you need a drop off. Pick up could probably be arranged too. The hotel offers a pretty outdoor terrace with Castle view, an on-site spa with massage, a library lounge with free drinks till 10pm, a foot reflex corner and a compact onsen with a silk bath (all with Castle view) and hot stone benches. I had the whole onsen to myself in the evening, so it was very relaxing. The staff are kind and lovely too, making an effort to explain all the services and amenities in English. The buffet breakfast was also one of the better ones I've seen in my trips to Japan. If you're visiting the Castle, the entrance road is right outside the hotel. The main castle road is about 5-10 min away but you will pass by a famous Japanese confectionery, Taneya and Club Harie. Their souvenirs are one that even the Japanese cherish. I would wish to come here again with my partner one day. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

A very enjoyable trip Staff are hospitality

The hotel is in a good location, and it only takes more than ten minutes to walk to the train station. It is close to Hikone Castle and is very convenient for visiting. The staff are polite, professional, and willing to help guests. Not every employee can communicate in English, but simple communication is no problem. Although the hotel lobby looks luxurious, the rooms and bedding are really not good. It feels a bit old-fashioned. I had dinner at the hotel in the evening, and the Japanese dinner experience was good. However, I ate it for three days, and the tone was relatively monotonous. By the way, the breakfast was still good, and I was very satisfied.

Get off at Hikone Station and walk for about 10 minutes. It is right next to the main entrance of Hikone Castle Park, but the photos are quite high and the main entrance is dark. I didn't notice it when I passed by for the first time! The single room I booked is relatively small, but it is very suitable for personal travel! You can enter the hot spring by swiping the room card, and you can see the night view of Hikone Castle at the hot spring. There are free drinks (beer, juice and coffee) when you come out of the hot spring. That place is quite cozy. There is a car to Hikone Station at 9, 10, and 11 am every day. The breakfast is quite rich, the tempura is freshly fried, and the curry is also made by yourself and tastes very good, but the miso soup is as salty as other places. Let me talk about a few problems, which are actually hardware design: 1. There is an alarm clock at the head of the bed, which is very close to the pillow and is on at night, which affects my sleep. I can only use the pillow to block it; 2. The light switch in the bathroom is on the other side of the door, which is very inconvenient. Apart from that, there is nothing else. In short, it is a very regular hotel, but if this kind of service is placed in big cities such as Tokyo, it is estimated to cost more than 1,000 RMB per night.

I love this hotel. The room is small but clean. After soaking in the hot spring, I sat on the second-floor terrace, drank apple juice from the water bar, and watched Hikone Castle under the moon. It was so comfortable. The breakfast was average, but it felt good to eat in the courtyard. There is also a free bicycle rental service. Hikone is my favorite city on this trip. I will definitely stay in this hotel again next time I come. I am very satisfied.

It was much better than expected. The view of Hikone Castle from the hotel at night was very beautiful. The bar was also very good. The dinner was very good and we even got extra free wine!!!

We upgraded to a room facing the castle. It was worth it to lie in bed and watch the cherry blossoms and Hikone Castle. The hotel's breakfast was also very rich, and the large bath on the second floor also faced the castle and cherry blossoms.

The location of the hotel is very good. The room is small, but the view facing the ancient castle is absolutely amazing. It is a very quiet small town. You need to make a reservation for dinner at the Phoenix Restaurant in the hotel, otherwise you won't be served. Omi beef is very delicious. It takes a quarter of an hour to walk to the town. There is a very good sushi restaurant. The ancient city is on a mountain and is well worth visiting.

There is the castle tower, a world cultural heritage, and the cherry blossom avenue along the river. The hotel is in an excellent location, and the facilities are exquisite. The dinner is delicious and the environment is great. I will stay here again next time.

As a traveler with the Japan 100 Famous Stamp, it was really important for me to relieve my fatigue by walking a lot all day. This hotel was really great. I've been to many Japanese hotels in various areas, but this was by far the best. Not only was the service friendly, but the view of Hikone Castle from inside the spa was spectacular both day and night. And the spa was really clean, without any limescale, as if it had been built just a few days ago. Breakfast was also really delicious. Next time, I plan to visit longer with my family. thanked!

A very convenient hot spring hotel. The hotel provides pick-up and drop-off service from the station, and the journey only takes 5 minutes. Opposite the hotel is Hikone Castle. When you take a bath at night, you can see Hikone Castle with the lights turned on (only until 22:00 every day). After bathing, there is an outdoor platform and indoor bar on the second floor where you can rest and enjoy the view of Hikone Castle. The room is clean and sanitary, so you can rest assured. Staying here is also the first choice for Japanese locals on vacation. We booked accommodation with meals, breakfast was buffet style, the food was rich, and the coffee was delicious. It’s not far to walk to Hikone Castle during the day. The hotel provides rental bicycles, and you can also ride there. The Hikone Cat Puppet Show at Hikone Castle is very cute. A very satisfying vacation experience.
