Taru Villas 906 - Hikkaduwa

Wholeheartedly recommended, without reservation. Everything at Taru Villas 906 in Hikkaduwa was excellent: food, service, accommodation, location. Step out of the back gate and you are right on the beach with the golden sand between your toes. It is situated a short tuktuk ride from the main part of Hikkaduwa, where you can snorkel and paddle with turtles, and see the baby sharks on the reef. Quite a few activities are possible, and we did the following: snorkelling, seeing the turtles and baby sharks at Turtle Beach, boat trip on the lagoon and Madu River (which included seeing how cinnamon is produced, visiting a Buddhist monk on an island and having our feet nibbled by fish), visit to the turtle rescue centre and hatchery (which included releasing baby turtles into the sea). A visit to the tsunami memorial is a must. It was so moving. I recently mentioned it to a colleague and had to pause to get myself under control because the emotions came back to me - more than three weeks after our visit. Many thanks to the staff at Taru Villas 906 for looking after us so well during our stay there in early July 2025. Altogether we had a very memorable stay. The food and drink were really excellent, and we had many memorable meals, the most notable one being the Sri Lankan feast, and the barbecue on our last evening there was very special. Special thanks must go to Rohan for the excellence of the service. Especially as he came back from his home 30 minutes away in the middle of the night to whisk me to the local hospital, due to a bite/scratch on my leg which had become infected. I will be eternally grateful for this.

Amazing peaceful place. The facilities are great and the staff couldn’t be better. Unfortunately the time we visited wasn’t the best in terms of weather but we knew that Sri Lanka’s West side wasn’t at its best. However the beach was great for long walks. The food here is really good….well done chef. :)

We had an incredible stay at this hotel, thanks largely to the amazing and caring staff. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to ensure we felt welcome and comfortable. The team, Mr. Rohan, Mr. Mohan and Mr. Kalana, truly goes above and beyond to make guests feel special, and it made all the difference in my experience. We highly recommend this villa for anyone looking for exceptional service and a genuine touch of hospitality.

Perfect beach side holiday villa. Waves crashing on the beach will be the soundtrack of your trip. Great and friendly staff will look after all your needs. Amazing Sri Lankan food. Ideal location for exploring up and down the coastline to Galle and the turtle sanctuary.

Based on the Reputation of Taru Villas of luxury and good food we spent 3 nights there, the location made it enjoyable. It did not start well with the booking. We were quoted different prices and eventually settled at a much higher cost than similar local villas. We stayed in the front room which is well equipped and comfortable. The atmosphere of the Villa is not wonderful. The white walls and shutters give the feeling of an institution, not a Tropical Holiday villa. It has a tiny pool, actually a plunge pool and with the sea unseasonably rough it meant swimming was impossible. The food was variable. Sometimes good, but mostly acceptable only There were three different chefs for the three days! The Villa Manager Rohan was wonderful and made our stay. Sadly we were disappointed with our first visit to Taru Villas. Hope that next time we will find a place to match Talu Villas’ reputation.

We are currently staying this property and what a disappointment. Other than our rooms, nothing else seems to be prepped in this villa. Pool was very dirty 🤢 and bathrooms only had hot water and the regular water line was not working. The place looks NOTHING as per images used to advertise the place. I have pictures of the dirty pool - so if the establishment denies so, I have proof. Tried calling the reservation number, they don’t pick up at all. It’s like they are ignoring it. I have stayed at Taru Villas Negombo and had a wonderful time. This is a big vast contrast. With a charge of Rs 100,000 per night, this is absolutely ridiculous. Really disappointed and a tarnish on their brand image. Will think twice before booking again.
