Took my friend for dinner as we were staying in the shepherds huts onsite. Wow, the food was Devine! My parents got me a voucher for Christmas and this was definitely my favourite gift! Would recommend this to anyone who loves good food and a cozy countryside pub vibe

We stayed at the plough on Saturday night after finding out the place we stayed on Friday had double booked our room for the Saturday. Rather than return home we looked for places with last minute availability. The plough had one room left and allowed dogs (£15 a night) and we had visited before for a drink whilst passing on a hike so booked to stay. We stayed in room 1 which was quite small but well presented, the bed was comfy and the shower powerful and hot. The room was quiet and peaceful other than the occasional other guests passing as it’s the first room near the entrance. We had a walk in to Hathersage in the afternoon for a couple of drinks which took about 15 minutes across the fields just after the bridge and then walked back for dinner at the plough. Dinner was very nice, lots of choice on the menu, fresh roses and candles on the table, very professional and friendly service and an extensive wine list. Breakfast in the morning was also good with again friendly and helpful service. Our only comment on the breakfast is that the sausages weren’t anything special. We’d had big juicy locally sourced sausages at the place we stayed the night before so these ones seemed a bit basic in comparison - upgrade those and breakfast would be perfect! The owners have thought of everything and it shows in the little details from the toiletries / cotton pads / ear buds etc in the bathroom to the blankets for the garden and tray for dirty shoes in the hallway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay albeit short and sweet and will definitely return, we might try the shepherds huts next time.

We stayed at The Plough on Friday evening and it was absolutely outstanding. The service and accommodation were exceptional. We had dinner in the restaurant, which wasn’t planned but the rain changed our plans, and we were so pleased. The food was beautiful, especially the filet steak, which was amazing. Elliott and staff run such a lovely family business. The young gentleman was so lovely and really looked after us .Breakfast was delicious and the service was wonderful. Yes definitely recommend and we will be back thank you

We stayed 2 nights and room was comfy, bathroom looked recently done up, and food was good - but absolutely devastated to have NO HOT WATER on BOTH MORNINGS! On 1st morning the owner (eventually) showed me to a room (across the courtyard in a different building) to use the shower - he had initially said all their rooms have independent hot water, but then he said the 3 rooms currently being used were all on the same water system - and rather patronisingly suggested it was probably the fault of the "lady upstairs who might have had a bath"??!! How he thought it would be the lady I don't know? And, if a room has a bath, surely they must expect the bath to be used? He promised there would be no problem on day 2 - but worse, there wasn't even hot water first thing to wash with - and again - COLD SHOWER!!! By then all other rooms were occupied and he gave me no option other than to wait until the water warmed up, which was at least another 30-40 minutes, so I ended up being an hour late for breakfast, all of which stressed us out & totally spoiled the day. They did refund some of our money but that didn't really compensate. What is the point of redecorating all the bathrooms if the water system can't cope?

On a planned route we had near by I popped into the pub to ask if we could possibly park in the car park as after our walk we were returning to eat and we were kindly told this was fine. We returned with 4 muddy, smelly dogs and thought it best to sit outside as it wouldn’t be fair on the other diners and we were frequently told we were more than welcome to sit inside. The gentleman behind the bar put us an umbrella up in the outside area as the rain had started and this was fabulous as we had plently of coverage for my mum and I plus 4 wet dogs! Food was quick and very tasty and the service and friendliness of the staff was fabulous! The pub has a nice, cosy atmosphere inside and we shall definitely return, thank you.

Location was absolutely perfect for peak hike weekend, we didn’t even had to drive anywhere as multiple hikes available from there. Room itself was clean, spacious, and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast had great choice and overall very welcoming experience! We had a dinner in the pub restaurant also, left this morning very happy with everything! Many thanks for excellent experience!

Really comfortable room and an excellent dinner and breakfast. Service really good too, altogether excellent. The location is also good for Stanage Edge for walkers and climbers, and then nearly is the impressive David Mellor Cutlery store.
