We stayed at The Plough on Friday evening and it was absolutely outstanding. The service and accommodation were exceptional. We had dinner in the restaurant, which wasn’t planned but the rain changed our plans, and we were so pleased. The food was beautiful, especially the filet steak, which was amazing. Elliott and staff run such a lovely family business. The young gentleman was so lovely and really looked after us .Breakfast was delicious and the service was wonderful. Yes definitely recommend and we will be back thank you

Really comfortable room and an excellent dinner and breakfast. Service really good too, altogether excellent. The location is also good for Stanage Edge for walkers and climbers, and then nearly is the impressive David Mellor Cutlery store.

Booked for a family meal. All ate from the pub classics. All very good and flavoursome with attentive but low key service. The steak and ale and fish pies were very good, Eton mess was amazing apparently although I couldn’t get my son to share! Great pint of Guinness! Highly recommend!

If you want comfortable and well presented accommodation, efficient and friendly service from all members of staff, really good quality food, all set within glorious countryside, then you should book The Plough. Thanks to all of you for ensuring we had such a relaxing and enjoyable break.

We had an evening meal here. Unfortunately my husband's chicken was a little pink, and my pork belly was extremely sickly with far too many purees. The pork skin was soggy too rather than crispy which made it sickly. I couldn't eat it as i felt sick after a few mouthfuls. The waiter could see we left most of our food and we told him why but he just took the plates away. We left pretty quickly as I felt so sick. Had to get food from the local convenience store later It's a nice pub in terms of atmosphere and location but the service was really poor. The menu had a good selection so maybe just a bad night for the chefs.

We decided to spent our first anniversary date here. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. The homemade pie of the day (steak and Guinness) was the best pie I ever had and my wife had the steak which was incredibly superb. Definitely recommend this place also for the beautiful scenery outside.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Plough Inn. Clean, functional, lovely location and nice welcome. The breakfast is amazing, great choice of quality, well cooked food- and the evening meals in the pub are delicious. Every member of staff was really friendly, helpful and cheerful! Booked for next year already.

Spent 4 nights in one of the shepherd huts as a base for a walking holiday. The plough is family owned and run. Service was impeccable with nothing too much trouble. Food was excellent and accompanied by an very good wine list. Located 10 minutes walk from the town and plenty of walks from the front door. I would highly recommend as a base for a walking holiday

Worst fillet steak ever,a gristle riddled chunk. Very disappointing main, starter was ok,service was fine......................................................................................................Will never return.
