Anastasia Hotel Stalis

Very well kept, very clean, nice staff, delicious food, not much to choose but enough, nice pools, beautiful gardens around! Prices a bit high at the bar - beer 4€, sparkling water 3,5€, food prices are similar to the prices in town restaurants. Short distance to Stalis and Malia, only a few min to the beach, 5 min to the closest bus stop. Rooms with old furnitures and tv but clean, excellent room service.

Stayed here several times and i love it here.Nothing is fantastic,but everything is good for a relaxing holiday.The recipe is suited for relaxing.Staff are great,foods ok,rooms ok.Theres always room at one of the pools.Its clean.Not far from Stalis town which is a great place to relax. I am coming back to the Anastacia again this summer,and looking forward to it very much.

This was our third time at the anastasia. We had read the reviews before we left so we knew it had changed management. People return to places for different reasons, we returned because of the evening entertainment, the food, and the staff. The staff are absolutely fantastic, friendly and welcoming. The lady who does the holiday club was fantastic with our granddaughter she loved it,the bar lady as well gave her 2 bracelets the day we left which was very thoughtful. My other 2 grandchildren were made a fuss of as well. The hotel is set out in different blocks which gives it a lovely little village feel. There are 3 pools which are good. The rooms are basic but clean and we don't spend much time in the room anyway. For us the food was a let down on our last 2 visits the food was a lot better and a lot more choice. The entertainment as well wasn't as good, the bbq night used to have Greek dancers which was brilliant but now it's just bbq food and a lot more of the other acts have gone as well. So because the food and evening entertainment wasn't the same as our other stays we wouldn't return, which is a shame because everything else is very good.

The staff at Anastasia are lovely and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. On our arrival we were given a meal at 2AM which was a lovely gesture and afterwards our bags carried to our room. The bar sells bottled water and luckily the bar was still open at 2AM when we arrived so as-well as water we sampled the beer which was refreshingly cold. The atmosphere in the outdoor bar was friendly with other holiday makers making us feel welcome along with the friendly bar staff who are always very busy. The rooms are cleaned daily and remain very clean with a hair dryer, 2 towels each per day , plenty of toilet roll and mini soaps. There’s a vending machine mini market with such as sun cream, chocolate and pop. There’s a supermarket, shops restaurants 15 minute walk away for milk, sugar, etc however, there’s a hire charge for a kettle. There’s a fridge in the room, but no cups, cutlery or plates with it being half board but they don’t mind if you take them to the room. The evening entertainment was most nights, this included bingo at £6 a card with the opportunity to win prize money. There was also Karaoke one evening however, finished around 10.30 just as everyone was getting their courage up to sing. We enjoyed the duo one evening who played great classic rock cover songs, two very talented chaps, again though finished around 10.30 but there’s other relaxing atmosphere entertainment 15-30 min walk away or Malia 30 min plus walk or £18 euros taxi there and back if you want more atmosphere / party . To nit pick, which I hate doing as it was a lovely place , the bed was quite hard and the TV was very old and small with only one channel which you couldn’t hear on full volume which would have been nice to watch on the thunderstorms day. The breakfast had a great choice however, some days the evening meals were limited on choice compared to other half board places we have visited although there is some great places to eat within a 15 - 30 minute walk with no pushy restaurant owners or sellers.

Enjoyed our stay. Plently of sun loungers. Close walk to 2 beaches. Plently of food options. Staff friendly. Only down side was we had no wifi in out room. I think it was too far away from bar/reception.

Nice hotel, bit run down, the staff work hard and will do anything to help you. Food is buffet style, but mostly pleasent. I think the bar is over priced. It's a walk to get to most bars and restaurants involving steps to get through the subway which could be a challenge to people with difficulties walking. However taxis cost about ten euros to most of the resort. There are some nice restaurants about half a mile away.

Stopped here for 10 days. It’s now a poor budget hotel with very basic facilities. This is our 3rd time staying at The Anastasia and unfortunately we found out when we arrived it was under new management and standards have fallen well below average. Our previous stays had some form of entertainment every night but this is now not the case. Bingo and karaoke is your lot on a Friday. One of the guests (Tennessee Jack) put on a night of entertainment off his own bat which many of the guests enjoyed. Unfortunately the food has gone way down in quality and is mass produced. The salad bar if you can describe it as that was so lacking in any form of decent produce. Come on this is Crete, it oozes quality, unfortunately not here. We had booked breakfast and evening meal for our duration but spent the majority of the time skipping breakfast and eating out at night to get good quality. The one morning we did decide to have breakfast the staff member cleaning tables was very loud and angry because he felt he was doing all the work on his own, another member of staff asked him to calm down but to no avail. Just what you want to witness first thing in the morning. Also the dining areas are so in need of a very deep clean and a quick wipe over of a table is not cleaning it. We went to the bar to get drinks (19/10/2023 evening) and what a rude barman. Totally got the order wrong (only two drinks) slapped them down on the counter and didn’t acknowledge we even existed. However the majority of the staff are wonderful especially the reception staff and the lovely cleaning ladies. They go out of their way to help you. The hotel is tired and in need of so many things to improve it in this modern day. The gardens are not what they used to be like and the poolside sun beds all need binning/burning and replacing. Umbrellas are a total mish mash of old and very very old. The play area for the young people is so tired and worn it groans out when you walk past it. We had to pay 2 euros a day for a kettle. No complimentary coffee or tea. Any extras like an iron or weigh your suitcase incur an additional charge. The room is quite spacious however apart from a 1960s tv, small fridge and a hairdryer (no charge) that is it in terms of facilities. The smell from the drains in the bathroom was unbelievable and we went out and bought bleach to try and replace one awful smell with another. Ended up covering the drain with a hotel towel. Towels were also severely lacking, at best the largest towel would not even go round your waist. We *****ped the bed when we were leaving and the enormous urine stain on the mattress was disgusting. They definitely need mattress covers and certainly burn the mattress. We are so disappointed that this once lovely family run hotel has lost its charm and quality. It’s going to take an enormous amount of work for them to recover returning regular guests and new ones. So many people we spoke to said the same thing in that they

This is the 4th time we have stayed at The Anastasia and it still has that special something that makes you want to return. We go to recharge the battteries & it is lovely to see a lot of the old staff who work tirelessly to make your holiday enjoyable. The hotel is clean, there are plenty of sun loungers & there are sufficient choices of food at breakfast & dinner. Will definitely return as do so many others & would like to thank all the staff who helped make our holiday a very enjoyable one.

Just returned from Anastasia Hotel in Stalis. This hotel is a real gem, the staff are fantastic. Anna on reception supplied all the information we needed, ie the best ATM with the lowest commission, which bus to get, which bus stop. She supplied us with a local map so we knew where to get what we needed. Tony the great quiz master and karaoke host was fantastic he even managed to get my husband to sing, never been known in my lifetime. Argie and John in the bar were something else, just so happy and could not have done any more to make our stay brilliant. We would recommend this hotel to anybody, pool area great and very clean. If you are thinking of booking just do it, you won’t be disappointed. Lesley and Brian
