Star Beach Village & Water Park

Hey all, just got back from this place and just to reassure people, we all had a great time. A group of 9 family members ranging from 3 to 79 over the October half term. The site is huge with the reception, main restaurant, a few pools, the entertainment area and the majority of rooms on one side of a service road. On the other side is there are more rooms, more pools, bars, places to eat and the water park. Also access to a number of little beach areas and the sea. The site is what you'd class as a village. Lots of separate blocks containing up to 30 rooms. We had a sea view which was nice. Cleaned and fresh towels every day. 3 beds and quite a large room with a nice balcony. Really comfy bed. A word of warning with the rooms. Depending on what room they allocate you might effect your holiday, depending on what you want. There is a go kart track next to the hotel running until 11pm and there are lots of rooms that overlook it. Also there are lots of rooms overlooking the main pool which is also the main entertainment area so if you want a quiet night this is not where you want a room. Friendly, hard working staff. Never experienced any issues with the staff. Food was awesome. So much choice, fresh cooked omelette, steak, fish. I put on half a stone and I was eating pretty healthily, just lots of it! Snack bar on the beach side doing fresh stir fry noodles. Drinks were good too. Branded vodka and whiskey plus some local spirits and beer. I watched them open new bottles of Absolute Vodka and there were some very very long pours but it still didn't have the effect it would have had in the UK so I'm not sure if it's somehow watered down like in other posts. AI cocktails were good too. Too much ice in everything though. Some of the bars are not on the AI so ask if it's not obvious. Lots of pools with little slides for small kids and the water park at the far end. I believe the water park is having a makeover for 2025. Pools are not heated. Even though it was half term there were no queues for anything, it was quite quiet. No problems getting sunbeds and no need to towel reserve. Speaking of towels get them at the main pool on the reception side of the hotel. If you like to walk then if you stand facing the sea and turn left you can walk along the sea front to the harbour and then back along the main street with all the shops. If you face the sea and turn right you can only get so far before the hotels stop you walking across their private areas. There's a few shops on site and just over the main road opposite the hotel. We did find the entertainment a bit poor but maybe that's just our taste. And the entertainment is around the main pool area and this area is way too small for this size of hotel with people having no choice but to stand as there's not enough seats and tables. The gym was OK if you can adapt your training for your stay. Not how it looks in the adverts. Some of the equipment was broken and dirty. It needs replacing ASAP.

Absolutely shocking!!! They started shutting down around us in the October half term. Leaving areas unsafe for children They stopped the snack areas No pancakes or waffles, No duck for the pancakes in the Asian restaurant. Minimal food choices for our last 3 days. Sunbeds started to be stacked up not leaving enough for all of their guests. It’s Unsafe with piles of wood and nails laying around, along with heavy machinery (fork lifts ) being used around the children’s pool areas. Rooms Uncomfortable beds Electric unreliable in my sister in laws room that we tried to use to charge our electronics before we flew ( she was her an extra day) Public toilets are dirty and never restocked with tissue or soap In the dining areas the staff would literally push you out of the way with their trolleys. Reception are rude and unhelpful The clearer took our towels off our outside table and the bar wouldn’t give us new ones for our last day. Over all what was supposed to be a relaxing break turned into a frustrating last few days. None of this was reflected in the price we paid it was nearly 4k for 2 adults and 2 children.

George and Diana from the main restaurant really made this visit extra special they are a married couple who work together and I had a accident so couldn’t use some of the resources so they planned a day out for the whole family where I could enjoy it and the whole family loved it I felt like we really got to experience the island from a real Cretan family and saw some amazing places we as a family will come back just because of the staff felt more like friends then staff and we will all miss them George and Diana if you read this and you work the main restaurant you truly are amazing and lovely and we hope to meet again x

Myself,partner 18 year old son & 2 girls (8&12) just returned last week from 10 days at Star Beach. From the min we arrived we all had an absolutely amazing time. The complex itself is fantastic, beautiful grounds, well run and situated. We stayed in Klio block which was next to the pool and bar and found it was fantastic. Extremely comfortable and was cleaned every day. We had 2 rooms next to each other on the 1st floor. I found all staff pleasant and hard working. The restaurant was really well set out and we never struggled to get seating, the food was fantastic with plenty choice each night and I really enjoyed the food, so much so that we never felt we had to eat outwith the hotel (previous holidays elsewhere I’ve had to). I personally found the food to a high standard and really enjoyed it, as did my family and my 8 year old daughter who is really picky found plenty she wanted to eat. The restaurant staff were really accommodating, especially Eirini and Antonis the manager who went above and beyond for us all. Really lovely people and hardworking. We spent most days at the beach which although smallish I never found I couldn’t get sun beds for the full family, kids done some water sports and enjoyed them. We would go for a walk along towards the Port most nights and walk back to the hotel and sit at the bar for a bit. I honestly had one of the best all inclusive holidays ever. My full family did. After reading some of the previous reviews I was a bit anxious but I’m shouldn’t of been, Star Beach exceeded all my expectations and more. Thank you to all for an amazing holiday. The pool club was amazing. We came for 2 full days. The pool is great, the chairs and champagne were very nice. The highlight of the place was the DJ. He was one of the best i’ve heard so far. Also the pool and bar personnel was amazing. Overall the entire atmosphere was very pleasant.
