This guest house is absolutely superb!! Rooms are unbelievable with views over the ocean and possible sightings of whales! Staff are very friendly and attentive , woukd definitely recommend this place to stay and just chill out these guys that work here go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and the rooms are just wow!!

My favourite place on our holiday in South Africa - that’s not just because we could see Whales from our room . This place was just perfect lovely spacious comfy rooms with everything you could possibly want . Super friendly staff who were soo welcoming & could not do enough to make you feel at home . Would not hesitate to return- also had a fabulous massage from the the lovely Agnes

We arrived on a day when the weather wasn't great, to discover that they had already rebooked our cancelled whale watching tour which was above and beyond! This is a beautiful place, the attention to detail is just lovely and Ansley and the staff gave such a level of personal service. We were very impressed that they offered laundry as we were in the middle of a 2 week trip. Breakfast and dinner were wonderful meals with a view. I would not hesitate to return.

Fantastic stylisch Lodge with wonderful sourroundinf, great seaview and wonderful cliff walking directly from the Lodge! Simon was terrific and very friendly! Help with everything to oranize for whalewatching which was terrific! Also very good food! We had a great stay at Abalone Lodge and can really recommend it!! Ursula&Angelo Thank you for everything!

A fabulous place to stay in Hermanus. The location on the cliff top is superb and the Lodge is stunning in terms of appearance and comfort. We could see whales in the bay from our balcony. Ansley and his team made us incredibly welcome and ensured we had a memorable stay. We will look out for other Shell Lodges in the future.

Excellent location booked room with seaview, able to watch whales from the balcony. Room clean and tidy , breakfast excellent with good choice. Staff extremely helpful in confirming our booked whale seeing trip. Service excellent, could not be faulted. On the coastal path to view the whales excellent sightings.

What a wonderful place to relax. The rooms are very comfortable, well designed and large. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is excellent. I have to recognize the afternoon manager Simon who went out of his way to help me with an issue I had with a hotel in Cape Town. It was resolved the next day. Breakfast was very good. Lots of options and good coffee. We opted for dinner in house one night and we're happy we did. Good food and a good view over the bay. I only stayed two nights and wished I could have added at least two more. I hope to return - soon.

A high-quality guest lodge in a fantastic location! From the moment we arrived, and throughout our stay, we were treated with first-class service from all staff. In particular, our host, Ansley, gave us a really warm welcome and did all he could to ensure our stay was first-class. Our room was beautiful and everything was spotlessly clean. The views from our balcony were stunning (despite the unseasonable weather!) Thanks to all staff for making our stay so wonderful and we hope to return one day.
