Lavender Manor Guest Lodge

Our hosts were friendly, the property was spotless, the beds very comfortable and the breakfasts brilliant - the watermelon and ginger preserve was outstanding .We had a mountain facing room with a balcony and the property was also close to the beach and a top notch beach restaurant. Marietta, Kobus and Petro were very friendly and helpful South African hosts with lots of suggestions on where to go and things to do. We cannot recommend you highly enough and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you all. Ian & Sharon

Guesthouse with a personal atmosphere. Large rooms with good views, but relatively expensive. Breakfast offers a lot of choices, but we were missing a good cappuccino.

We arrived tired from travelling from UK and we were met with smiles and hospitality. Huge room,with a very comfortable bed, beautiful views and nothing seems too much trouble. Freshly prepared breakfast as well. A fabulous location, a few minutes walk from the beach and an easy walk along the cliff path to Hermanus. Perfect place to start our holiday. Thank you.

We stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon. The room was very spacious, had a small balcony where we enjoyed a drink and watching the whales in the bay. All the staff were extremely welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us with recommendations and bookings on our behalf, the breakfast was also lovely each morning. The only downside was a very small window were we had no water due to extreme floods nearby but we were very well looked after during this time with bottles of water and it was resolved within a few hours. The room had an adjacent lounge with sofas big enough to chill and admire the scenery. Would love to come back here in future!

A lovely lovely place. The reception was warm, the rooms were lovely and the location was great. Definitely recommend it.

We stayed at this guest house for 2 nights as we wanted to do a whale watching trip on our South Africa road trip. We also knew that Hermanus is the best place for land based whale watching. On arrival at the lodge we were welcomed warmly by the owner who helped us with our luggage. We stayed in a ground floor room which was large and comfortable. However, other guests had to pass close by to enter the breakfast room. It was not warm enough to use the tiny pool or loungers but in warmer months this could present a problem as this facility was adjacent to the room we stayed in. The communal lounge area and viewing terraces upstairs are a great feature. We were unable to use the outside areas as the weather was cold and windy so we did not try any whale watching from there. I guess you would only see any whales using the provided binoculars. There is an honesty bar for guests use as well as a mini bar in the room. Breakfast was freshly cooked together with help yourself juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt, fruit, breads. It is an easy walk down to the beach where there is a restaurant. Hermanus town is a short drive away. The main cliff path is here with some lookout points for whale spotting. We have just one negative comment. We found the house very cold. There did not appear to be any form of heating anywhere apart from in our bedroom where there was a heating unit which we eventually discovered how to use. However, this did not heat the bathroom. Apart from this, we had a very pleasant stay.
