No receptionist on arrival (have to ring for someone to come down and see you) Nowhere to leave keys at checkout No signs to say where anything was (bit like a maze) ●Lovely bathroom Suspicious staining on mattress Lots of dust all around the lower part of the bed (no good for allergy and asthma sufferers like myself) Room was so cold we had to go to supermarket to buy electric blanket Got told breakfast was at 9 so we got down there for 09:04 and it was finished

I stayed here last night with a lady friend and really enjoyed it. Such a quirky little hotel with bags of charm. Definitely one to experience rather than me try and explain it. If you like things a bit on the eccentric side then this place is for you.

This hotel was lovely overall. Clean, warm and comfy with some classic touches. We were in the orchid suite with a four poster bed and Jacuzzi bath which was great. There were a few small repairs needed but its a huge property and not a chain hotel so to be expected. Only complaint that the bar closes early and hall was a little dusty on the stairs but our room was lovely and clean with everything needed. Breakfast was amazing with perfect fresh eggs and toast made to order, mushrooms and all the bits for a full English as well as continental. Grounds were very pretty for a wander too.

Such a shame. This could be a great hotel with some investment, decent staff and a thorough clean and some maintenance. You arrive into a reception that hasn't been dusted or hoovered in a long time. The reception is unmanned with a phone number to call someone who arrives 5 minutes later, gives you a key, directions to your room. The room is tired, but large and warm. The carpet is filthy and doesn't seem to have been hoovered in months. The window sills are dirty with dead insects on them. The bathroom is well lit and a good size but the taps are falling off the wall, the panel behind the toilet is coming unscrewed and there are black mold patches around the bath. Breakfast is okay, but again, you have to wait for staff to appear and there is no hot water for tea and you receive toast when you have just about finished eating. Its also served 8am to 9am on a Sunday! There appears to be two staff members on duty and its too much for them to cope with. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone. Dont be fooled by imagery of the outside of the building and grand looking rooms. Such a shame as this really could be lovely

Shocking, so many negatives. My photos say it all. Advertised photos are nothing like it. Alan room is musty, tired, dirty, wasp nest in shower vent, video to show this! Cracks in walls, bath tap not fixed. Dirty bat, shower awful. Not 4 star, really terrible. Kettle in room, very basic & no choice of beverages. No culinary alternative diet offered at breakfast. Room key sellotaped!?! Doreen abrupt & not a host at all. How they can charge £125 a night via online platforms begs belief. I'm widely travelled & visited many correct 4 star hotels. This for 1 night was a bad experience. Please do not visit. Much better choices offered for your money. Avoid! WiFi does not work, inaccusable excuse offered.

The whole hotel and grounds looked very neglected. Our room was average, but only had one lamp working instead of three. The duvet was a 10.5 tog which was much too hot in August,so pulled it off and slept just with the duvet cover. We did have a fan in the room, a positive! The toilet rolls were just on the floor and had to be picked up by hand, kept thinking who else was having to put their hands on them. My husband has an immune illness and cleanliness is really important. No bar open! Breakfast fine. A hotel past its best days.

Unable to check in and had booked 4 rooms for the night before and of a family wedding. No one at property at all and door to main hotel open so we were roaming about trying to find someone. Absolutelynonstagg present for the whole of thos time. No answer for over an hour on the number at reception. 2 other couples in same situation and one were leaving due to an issue in their room. They had to leave a note with the key. Lady turned up after over an hour by this time had lost confidence in the security of the hotel. The lady offered no apology, assurance or understanding. Had to find alternative accommodation urgently (thank God for Premier Inn Who were amazing). They won't refund any money as say I left. Nope I couldn't check in to an insecure property!!! Awful experience and very upsetting 😡

Requested check in between 3 - 4pm. Rang the bell, rang the mobile twice. A lady came out at 4pm after we waited one hour in a unwelcome reception area. Food ground into floor and a huge cobweb, Taken to room - tv didn't work, hair & muck in hand basin, no hand soap, only one light in bathroom worked. To boil jug had to put on the floor to access a power point. No luggage seats so cases had to be opened on the floor. Toilet took ages to fill & seat not attached properly. Room generally dusty. While we out someone entered the room and opened the window. Breakfast ordinary then a hair on the bacon. 🤮
