The Rea is a one-star hotel, not the Burj al Arab; anyone booking this hotel should be aware of that. It's located down a side street but relatively centrally in Heraklion; the reception was very friendly and uncomplicated. This also saved the rating. The room is on the smaller side, but absolutely adequately sized. The same can't be said for the bathroom. I don't know who came up with the idea of installing a shower without a shower curtain or shower screen; unfortunately, I flooded the entire bathroom. At least it was clean, because cleanliness isn't the most outstanding feature of this hotel. But no matter, it was cheap and friendly—what more could you want.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times since October of 2022. Spotless, quiet, central. It has been run by the same family for 50 years. It is now operated by a brother and sister who are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They do not have parking, but there is a paid lot attended 24 hours per day within 2 minutes walk.... I have parked in hotel parking lots where the walk to the front desk was longer. An excellent laundry service about 3 minutes walk away where you drop your laundry by 9 and can pick it up at 2 for a very reasonable price. Forget about using up an hour or two of your vacation time in a laundromat. We have recommended the Rea to three different sets of friends -- two couples and a single woman -- and all have found it a great place to stay.

This woman of the hotel was cruel and inhospitable. I emailed her I was coming after 1 AM, because that’s what time the flight arrived. She got back to me late by email. Had she gotten back to me early, everything would have been resolved. She was asleep and disorganized when she came out. She refused to check me in. Then threatened to call the police on me. A horrible experience for your first encounter into Greece. God will show Sodom and Gomorrah more mercy than He shows this hotel owner.

Stayed here for two nights in August 2023 Pros: 1) Location is good. The place is quite close to the beach. The City Centre and the Fort are all within walking distance. 2) The front desk staff speak excellent English 3) The WIFI is free and the speed and connectivity are good. 4) The room and bathrooms were very clean 5) There are several good restaurants within walking distance 6) Tariff is reasonable 7) The place is quite at night and sleep quality was good. 8) Air condition was available Cons: 1) There is no parking nearby. There is a 24 hr car park at a 10 min walking distance. 2) The room and bathroom are small.

We stayed here for a week while in Heraklion. I found it simple, cosy and clean, with very helpful and supportive staff and comfortable beds. It was really good value for money as the hotel is so well located- minutes from the sea, close to the city centre, with restaurants and shops just a stone's throw away. We did a lot of sightseeing in Crete and Rea Hotel was a great starting point- it was so easy to get to the bus station, the bus stops to Knossos and to the airport, and the port from here.

The mockery and the sloppiness IN ALL ITS GREATNESS! Last year I booked a SINGLE room for 2 nights and THEY SCAMMED ME WITH THE SAME THING I WANT A DOUBLE. Let alone that it was RIGHT UNDER THE WINDOW of the room where I was, there was a cafe and I COULDN'T GET PEACE neither at noon nor at night BEFORE 2:00 when it closed. And the sheets, they DO NOT change them, they "turn" them inside out. After all, I saw the marks from the makeup I was wearing... If this tells you anything...

Cet hôtel a de nombreux atouts. L'accueil est charmant et attentionnée. La localisation est parfaite, à 2 pas de la mer et au début d'une rue commerçante menant au centre en quelques minutes. L'endroit est néanmoins calme. La chambre est de taille modeste mais propre et bien équipée. Nous avons apprécié la climatisation ainsi que le petit balcon. Et enfin, le prix est imbattable. Cela en fait un endroit avec un excellent rapport qualité/prix. Nous ne pouvons que conseiller ce petit hôtel.
