Best Hotels near African American Museum of Nassau County, Hempstead

Our visit was 9/8-9/12/2021. We arrived after 10pm sign on door read -MASK REQUIRED_ AWESOME... and were warmly greeted and quickly checked in by the 2nd shift front desk employee. The hotel lobby was small but clean. We proceeded to our room on the 1st floor. The room was very clean, the bathroom clean and stocked well with towels, soap, etc. The furniture was in great condition. the room had 2 double beds and 3 pillows on each bed. Everything was pretty good up to this point. Then I sat on the bed.. I thought I was sitting on a table! The mattresses are HARD! If you like a hard mattress great but if not you had a few nights of little sleep like I did. The housekeeping staff did good job and were always friendly. We appreciated the decent rate as other places in the area were at $200+ a night. If you want more luxury be prepared to pay it with another hotel brand. All in all ... I would return because of the reasonable rates and put up with a lack of decent sleep due to a hard mattress. The Econo lodge served its purpose for a decent price. The location was great. Close to my friends/family, parkways, restaurants, shopping mall, and great Long Island diners.

This was an excellent choice for my friend and me. We had a room with 2 double beds. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom shower was excellent. The hotel was very quiet. Since I have to eat gluten free, there weren't alot of choices for breakfast but the eggs, fruit and oatmeal were good. The staff were all friendly and so helpful. I enjoyed being able to sit in the area near the amazing fish tank and charge my phone while reading or eating. The front desk person who was on duty on Saturday morning, June 10 deserves a special shout out. My friend and I were in a serious car crash when leaving the hotel and the manager couldn't have been more kind and caring. We sat in the hotel lobby for hours collecting ourselves and figuring out transportation. Again, the desk clerk offered us water, asked if we wanted anything to eat, kept an eye on us and made us feel cared for. I am sorry I didn't get his name but he deserves to be recognized for the kindness he showed us.

I can't express enough how wonderful the team at Four Points were for us. Nicole (Director of Sales) was our point person for booking rooms for over 30 people and her communication and professionalism made the process seamless. Alexis & Jada at the front desk were also quick to respond to any questions/concerns we had.

* Parking - small lot under the hotel between the poles everywhere- hard to navigate and park near but space is limited and it is NY so I get it. *Location- nice centrally located in surprisingly high end area. Great food right nearby. * Service- let me just say the housekeeper was great! Friendly and takes pride in her work. In sharp contrast though, the front desk staff female - needs some serious customer service training. Walked inside to check in to her finishing an obvious personal call by the context and a hand being thrown up to us as we waited for her to finish making her after work plans. Simple Issues during check in that became larger on her part as we obviously inconvenienced her and she literally argued room type listed in printed copy of reservation. Get through that and then sent to room and Room 1 - no heat or ac working, floor creaking and uneven which was odd, weird smell (assuming from ac issue). Returned to desk to discuss and she sadly, seemed to enjoy the fact there was an issue. So sent us and all our stuff to Room 2- bed great surprisingly comfy bathroom clean, older room but is just a place to lay your head while in town. Keys however mysteriously kept not working but ironically enough only when she was on shift over the course of several days. Male morning desk person, very friendly and helpful with directions. He always was being personable with guests other than ourselves, obviously enjoys his job. *Room 2 was directly under room 1 which became occupied on day 2 and we spent the next two days in the evenings listening to extremely loud floor squeaks as the guests above us moved. They were night owls and this went well into the night. We ended up meeting them at breakfast and it was an interesting conversation as they noticed all the same listed above. *Breakfast- decent but no home run. For age and size of hotel, it was well set out and had what you needed to start the day. I would strongly say to just stay somewhere else. It was clean which was good but overall even as a place just to lay your head it is best to avoid.

I like a hotel very much. Although it can’t be compared with Marriott in China, the hotel is relatively new and the sanitation is good. The breakfast is the richest I’ve had during this trip, haha, especially their blueberry jam and apricot jam. Delicious😋, there is iced fruit water every day, of course the most important thing is that the room has a small kitchen with complete tableware for simple cooking🍳

I stay here regularly for Business and I love how friendly and welcoming is. Particularly Steve and Raul. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have everything you need, including a fridge and microwave which is so handy when being away from home. The breakfast is OK, lots of choice and all very clean and covid safe but nothing fancy. There is a gym and a pool I believe but not used those facilities. Unfortunately there is no bar or restaurant for lunch or dinner, however plenty of options nearby including a wholefoods next door, target, trader Joe's and Walmart, as well as a Wendy's and shake shack. Hotel are also happy to call for take out on your behalf and there are loads of nearby options. Location is great and only a 10 min walk from Carle place train station which is a 45 min ride to Penn Station in Manhattan. I always look forward to staying in this hotel and it feels like a home from home for me.

What a strange, strange hotel. I'm a Hilton Diamond member. Hilton is running a promotion, encouraging you to stay in different brands, and The Roslyn (note the pretentious ”The”) is in one of their sub-brands. At Check-in, there was ZERO recognition for being a Hilton Honors member, let alone a Diamond member. I'd requested a Diamond Upgrade when I booked, which is supposed to be automatic. No upgrade. Instead, I was put in a room overlooking a rooftop with HVAC units, and looking up at the underside of a concrete bridge. SRSLY? The room was clean and the bedding was comfortable, so there's that. But the bathroom? What a joke! The mirror is centered at 4” 2” over the sink! I'm not a tall guy, but I had to haul the ottoman in and kneel on it to shave! And the toilet seat is 14” off the floor! If you are older, overweight and/or have bad knees, how the heck are you supposed to do #2? Every Hilton property in the universe begins the che3ck-out process with ”How was your stay?” This place? Fuddedaboutit! The desk staff is either clueless, or they know the property is a joke and they don't want to hear about it. Wish I'd stayed at the Hampton Inn or even the Holiday Inn Express instead.

Stayed for short stay was clean and comfortable! Rooms were spacious and clean as well beds were comfortable! Seemed to be following all of the new covid rules and regulations!

Hilton garden Inn Melville has an amazing package that every hotel should have for brides to get ready the morning of their wedding! Rosemarie the sales manager provided information in their “Beauty and Bubbles” package that includes champagne, a light breakfast, makeup chairs and mirrors a long table for your makeup and hair stylist and then extra seating to enjoy breakfast- all put together in a clean and modern conference room ! The price for the room and amenities are very fair. Rosemarie answered all of the questions leading up to the day and made herself available the morning of, there was an attendant there if needed and other staff made It known they were available ! There is a bathroom right next door to the room to use to change if needed. Not to mention the hotel is spotless with a beautiful outdoor area with fire pits that we enjoyed the night before during our stay, a bar, snack stand, pool and immaculate guest rooms. Overall 10-10. The hotel was amazing even though it’s a local hotel I’m definitely going back just for an overnight staycation because of the clean and modern amenities.
