Hotel Fischer am See

The Hotel "Fischer am See" would be a good address in a beautiful location with numerous hiking opportunities, if, yes, if it were not located on a campsite, which results in a very mixed clientele, and if it had sufficiently trained staff. The architectural inconsistencies of the three building phases, the location of a room between them with stairs between the bathroom and the room, a view of parked cars and spruce trees, framed by the mighty mountains of Tyrol, and the furnishings made of plastic wood can be overlooked if you are only staying one night. Of course, such guests are not given the best rooms, which is understandable, even if this costs over 300 euros with half board (see below). The fact that the reserved table with a view of the lake only offers the latter through a hall and an extension that is probably called a "terrace" is more annoying. And the terrace with the beer benches and large tables suits the campsite better. The fact that the menu is ultimately reduced to a salad plate as a cold starter, two soups as a warm starter and three meat and one meatless main courses, all of which come from the deep fryer, makes the decision easy: never again!

Due to the pandemic, we were not in the beautiful house for a long time. Despite the season just beginning, we got, as always, beautiful rooms and an excellent evening menu. The restaurant was not yet open at the time, but we were still spoiled with a varied menu.

Vielleicht hätte ich in einem hochpreisigen Hotel-Restaurant nicht ausgerechnet das Allerweltsgericht Schnitzel Wiener Art wählen sollen. In Österreich bin ich hiermit noch nie baden gegangen - beim Fischer am See schon. Mit Sicherheit nicht frisch zubereitet, sondern aus der Tiefkühl-Großpackung - das hat man sofort an der Panade gesehen und auch geschmeckt. Zudem genauso geschmacklos wie die viel zu kurz fritierten, halbgaren Pommes. Und das zum stolzen Preis von 21 Euros - ohne Salat!
