What a charming, comfortable, warm, peaceful, and friendly inn. We stayed four nights and the staff were wonderful, advising on the best places to visit. Customers were also friendly and welcoming. Slept well, ate well, and it was nice to be in such a picturesque spot.

Spent 2 fantastic nights in the French room , loved every minute , everything we needed was supplied by the fantastic folks who work here , they seem very happy In what they do. After exploring the area , the coast up to Berwick , Alnwick etc , coming back here was delightful, we chilled out in the bar, got changed and ate both nights here, absolutely faultless, to top it off the breakfast was probably one of the best In UK for us. We will no doubt be back. Thank you all xx Andy and Wendy. Poulton-le-Fylde.

Had a lovely meal and overnight stay at Tankerville Arms last week. It's a beautiful pub in a stunning part of the county and has everything you could possibly want from a country pub - roaring fire, cosy surroundings and friendly staff. The room we stayed in was spotless with lots of lovely touches. Ellen and the team go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Food was incredible too. Definitely worth a visit!

Fabulous food and brilliant service. We called in on the off chance of there being a table free for dinner. We were lucky there was. The lady who served us was lovely and helpful. We had Sunday lunch. The food was amazing. Thank you.

Excellence throughout! We stayed three nights using two rooms and ate there each evening. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and very clean. They are up quite steep stairs. The food is exceptional with a good menu. It’s 250 years old so full of character, and the bar has a warm fire and no tv, no sports channels, no fruit machines and no loud music. Parking is at the front. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. What a find!

After turning up and finding I'd booked Sunday lunch at a similar named premises, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They seated us in the cosy bar area where we had a fantastic 3 course Sunday lunch. The best mistake I've ever made, thank you for accommodating us!

Feeling in need of pampering, booked the Suite which fully met expectations. The room is huge, with large bed and a 'living room' area with leather sofa/arm chairs plus TV with Sky and DVD (plus disks). There's also an Amazon Echo unit, if you wish to use Alexa. I was especially impressed with the pre-stocked mini-bar containing chilled waters and also milk for tea/coffee and snacks. The bathroom has a large walk-in rain shower, but no bath if that's important to you. My preference would have been for desk in room, I was balancing laptop on my knees sitting on the sofa, although clearly this hotel is aimed at leisure travellers. Also a personal choice, I'd have liked net curtains on the windows which had a line-of-sight to houses across the street. The dinner and breakfast were both excellent and staff friendly and efficient. Although the room has windows facing the 'main' road, that's a relative term in Eglingham and I wasn't troubled by noise through the night. It's always nice to find a hotel where you pay a bit more but that extra is well worth the money for a very enjoyable experience.

Spent 2 nights here. Arriving at 2pm, I was slightly underwhelmed: could we be the only guests? By 6.30pm the place was buzzing, all rooms (ok, there are just 3!) were full, the bar was busy, and the restaurant was fully booked (on a Thursday evening). Great food, and loads of it. Good wine list and for a restaurant, remarkably reasonable prices. Good selection of fine draught beers. Our room (the suite) was huge, very comfortable and relaxing. Staff, excellent. The village is a few houses, and the hotel - not a lot to see or do, but only a short drive to Alnwick, which is lovely. Try it, I think you'll like it.
