Gorgeous resort close to Kruger park. Lovely setting dining over the river. Great food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Do book on the Elephant Experience across the river - you will be amazed and thankful you went.

Hippo Hollow was the African hotel in my mind’s eye. Quirky but very comfortable and welcoming, we had 3 relaxed evenings here. The food and service were excellent served in an informal space. On the first (and indeed every evening) hippos made their way into the hotel grounds and were visible from the dining area. The room was close to the pool and well furnished. The hotel was convenient for Kruger park and for the Elephant Wispers park. We had the best time and would have liked longer

WOW. This is a lovely hotel even without the Hippo's, which we did get to see on both nights. Very lucky. Beautiful surroundings, lovely food and very friendly staff. We went to Kruger National Park on the two mornings we were there and they did us a really nice pack up to take with us as we set off before breakfast. Loved this place and if I went back to Kruger would definitely stay again.

The accommodations were very comfortable. The hotel is very close to Kruger National Park. At night hippos come out and eat the grass in front of the dining room. We also saw elephants on the hill opposite the hotel. The meals were also very good.

We stayed two nights here with a tour group. Our accommodation was in one of the chalets in the grounds. The room was pleasant, spacious and well-equipped (it even had a little kitchenette), with a good size bathroom with a double shower. Most importantly, the room and bathroom seemed clean. We had one packed (take-out) breakfast for an early-start game drive, which was substantial, and one buffet breakfast in the restaurant. The buffet breakfast had a good range of hot and cold options, but it was busy and the egg-cooking station was slow to start up, resulting in a queue. We also had two buffet dinners here, which offered a good choice and were very nice, but again the evening buffet was quite busy. (There were a number of tour groups staying at the hotel, including the one we were on, with tables set up for the different groups.) We sat outside on the terrace for tea one afternoon, and there is a very pleasant outlook over the river, but we didn’t see any hippos! We didn’t really spend much time in the hotel, but the garden areas looked lovely and well-maintained.

We were booked two nights at this place for work year end function. It was such a perfect venue just to wind down the year's fatigue. As soon as one gets into the property you smell relaxation the air tells one that you're here to relax The rooms are big enough with enough space in the bathroom. Very important the aircorn came in handy as it was very hot. I didn't enjoy the food on the first but oh my oh my on the second at the Boma the chef was showing off the food was so delicious the restaurant manager Thato really looked after us. My only disappointment is that I didn't see the Hippos as I heard that they come through the waters by the restaurant, I guess next time

The stuff is very rude and unprofessional, I booked a room for 2 nights and paid for it and checked in immediately, 40 minutes later we receive a call that the cabin we are in has been double booked there for we have to leave and yet that booking was made after we had already paid and checked in. Instead of making alternative plans for the other guests they forced us out of the room we paid for to cater for other people as if we did not pay just as the other people, the treatment from the stuff especially the management was horrible and I’m never setting foot there ever again.
