We have just returned from a week at St Ives bay beach resort, staying in one of the Stargazer caravans. Firstly, let me say that the Stargazer is a very nice caravan with amazing views over the bay. The hottub was checked daily first thing in the morning which was nice to see. Now for the not so good parts. When we arrived, the bathroom window was broken, there were ants in the drinks optics, the bathroom radiators were covered in rust and we didn't have a clothes airer or a pole to open the rooflight windows. Also, the TV wasn't straight on the wall. We complained about the bathroom window and that was sorted the next day by a very nice chap (didn't catch his name) and we also got sorted with the clothes airer. We didn't want to mention anything else as it felt like we were in reception every day complaining about something and the other things were either, minor ******* (tv not being straight) or big jobs to sort (radiators replacing). My point is, we paid £1500 for 7 nights for this stay. I priced up a 10 night stay in August and the price was close to £4000. Paying that sort of money, you expect everything to be perfect. I don't see the justification for almost £400 per night in peak season. My son and I had breakfast one day in the bistro which wasn't amazing. I had fried eggs on toast which were greasy and overcooked and my son had the pancake stack with nutella (5 asda pancakes and a couple of sachets of nutella which we had to spread ourselves). Bistro and bar are massively overpriced but i guess they have the captive audience. All the staff were really nice to be fair. The pool was nice but the best part about this site is the location. Perfect views and the beach is brilliant. A little steep to get on and off but my son loved playing in the sand dunes and it gave us some good exercise! Overall, we had a great time and we would come back again if the prices were a little more realistic.
