Hotel is accepting booking on its website and taking payment. I’m reading reviews we tried to contact the hotel to see if it was operating. The number on the website was disconnected and there is no response to emails. On arriving in Hawick and for the entirety of the stay the hotel doors were locked. All indicates that the hotel is out of business. The fact that they are taking money still whilst not delivering a service is being reported to action fraud. Avoid at all costs.

Arrived to find the place closed with a message to ring for entry. Number was ring and each time the phone put down after establishing out names and booking. Suffice to say we didn't get in despite our reservation. We found out from another hotel owner in Hawick that the Hawick Hotel had recently gone bankrupt and there had been some dodgy dealings. I would not recommend this place at any cost AVOID!

AWFUL! Avoid this hotel at all costs! I booked this hotel for two of my engineers to stay in on a business trip. When they arrived at the hotel there was nobody there, it looked closed! Finally after an HOUR of waiting outside they got through to someone on the phone who came and let them into the hotel. They were told that their room wasnt ready and nobody was going to be sorting it for them either (this was at 6PM!). I had also booked two rooms but they had to share a room as that was all they had. No heating or hot water for them either. I tried calling the hotel the following day to complain (and to get some money back for the additional room i paid for but didnt get) but it is impossible to get through to anyone, the phone just cuts off. I should have read the previous reviews before booking this place, i can see this is par for the course for this hotel. Dont make the same mistake i did. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Absolute S***HOLE!!

Awful! I have stayed here several times in previous years and it has been great. It’s a shame because a lot of refurbishment has been done with new carpet, great heating and comfy beds but service needs zero stars. On arrival we were met with ‘You need to pay in cash cos the system is down’ The lovely bar /snug was shut down. Bathroom had broken tiles hanging off. 1st day breakfast : no cereal, fruit etc Bacon, sausage, beans and 3 fried eggs all of which must have been cooked 2 hours before we tried them. Help yourself drinks. No marmalade or jam. 2nd day breakfast : No cereal, fruit etc 3 rashers bacon, empty mushroom dish, same old fried eggs. No butter or marmalade. When we complained fresh bacon and mushrooms were prepared. Help yourself drinks with milk in shop cartons……etc Come on ! Visitors to Hawick deserve better than this. G TV

When I arrived at the Teviotside I was greeted with a "for sale" sign and paint-buckets and no one there. With the help of a friend we managed to find out who the former owner was, and, as he was now co-owner of The Hawick Hotel, we could get a room there. He claimed that he had told *********** several times that he had sold the guest house. Unfortunately *********** had withdrawn the price for the 3 nights already the 21st of May whereas we were not arriving until the 26th. AND I have not been able to get my money back from ***********, as they claim that they have not been able to confirm that the place had been sold!

One of us had a previous positive experience at this hotel a few years ago, which was the reason for booking it this time. We were on a visit to a family member, who is in poor health and visiting for the first time since Covid restrictions were lifted. However there is now something afoot with this hotel. We were told that the former owner has passed it on to his daughter, who was absent throughout our four night stay. We aren't in the habit of posting poor reviews here and we always seek to say something positive. We found the hotel to be very clean and the bed linen and towels were all fresh. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. There is also a convenient car park at the rear and the hotel is centrally located. Sam who appeared to be trying to hold the show on the road was nothing less than apologetic and polite at all times. However...... This was one of the weirdest hotel stays we have had in many a long year. Our suspicions should have been aroused when we booked the hotel direct and had a call three weeks before our stay asking us to pay up in full in advance. On arrival, we were greeted in the car park by Sam, who said he had been there for only a few days himself. We found that the bar was closed and chained and padlocked due to "changing the licence". As far as we could tell neither the front door or the back door to the car park were ever locked, so we didn't feel completely safe. In the room we found we had no plug in the sink. The sash windows were stuck closed. The weather had cooled down by the time of our visit, but we could have done with some fresh air and the room (no 6) would have been insufferable in the recent heatwave. At breakfast the following morning there was one gentleman wandering around taking tea and coffee orders, still in his puffa jacket. There were some self service cooked items on the hot range, but no cerals, juices, milk, yohurt offered. Our request for soya milk had been noted. We sent Sam a text with a list of requirements for next morning and to be fair these items were provided the next day. Our final evening was Sunday and we appeared to be the only people staying. We came down at 08:35 the next morning to find no-one around and no breakfast laid out. The kitchen was deserted and no-one responded when we called out. The only thing missing was tumble**** blowing around! We finished packing and loaded the car. Still no-one around. We ended up having breakfast in the Wetherspoons across the road before heading home. A reply to a request for a refund for our last night is awaited. We wish Sam and the new owner the best of luck in getting this place straight - they are clearly going to need it. Finding quality accommodation in Hawick has eluded us. If Premier Inn ever make the numbers work and open here they will clean up on present form. To close on a positive note, we had some very good restaurant experiences in and around Hawick and will post some further reviews.

Dog friendly Because that is all its good for, DOGS. An expensive kennel at that. Almost £250 for 2 nights. Breakfast, The dogs must have liked it Because they ran out of sausages. I'm aware that bad reviews can destroy a business. But you really shouldn't be in this business. My experience was based on a 2 night stay. Room 11.

This B&B is on the main road through Hawick. The entrance is simply a door off the street. Luckily we had been told that it was by the cash point next to Oxfam so found it quite easily. Parking on the street is fine although there is a car park at the rear which we never used. If you struggle with stairs don't stay here. There were 50 to our room - and no lift so luggage has to be carried. The hallway is dark with flock wallpaper and dark red carpets. Old chairs appear to have been dumped in the stairwell hidden (not very well) behind a screen. There was also a smell of damp when we were there Our room was large enough with a king sized bed and high ceilings. There were also what looked like the original shutters on the window the view from which wasn't very exciting but we were in the centre of the town. The owner wasn't there to check us in so we waited until the following morning to tell her our TV didn't work However before we could go down for breakfast we discovered we had no hot water in the bathroom. To be fair the owner did come up and fix it - and the TV - for us herself. Breakfast - if you like toucan wallpaper, Indian wall hangings, juke boxes, blue walls, bright orange furniture and mirror topped tables then perhaps this place is for you. The place has been redecorated since photos on the internet were taken. You may have to share your table as there are only two tables for four people each so not enough space for everyone. My husband in particular felt very ill at ease here. We have thought about it and come to the conclusion that as he is colour blind he struggled with the clashes. I just felt like I was in an India restaurant from the 70s with all that flock wallpaper. Owner Donna tries really hard and appears to be doing it alone so fair play to her. However this isn't the place for us

One of the worst places I've ever stayed! Held off leaving a review to give owners the benefit of the doubt given they did have a difficult party and they'd rented the whole annex part where me and my friends baby were out to builders. Who slammed doors, shouted on, smoked ***** and tried to enter rooms. As 2 women with a baby it was a case of trying to find management amongst the builders; builders were advised to he quiet which didn't happen and promised a full refund. No edible breakfast available on the morning and no highchairs, 13 year old handling complaints and managing breakfast. Other guests leaving early . Room not as advertised Contact made on multiple occasions and proof of being offered a refund which never materialised so they are also dishonest. Currently in a situation where I can't be refunded cos this hotel lies and states they've already processed it. So main advice is don't leave without your refund either as its likely going to easier me going back up there for mine!.
