De Foret offers a visually stunning retreat in midst the jungle. The property is beautifully designed, with wooden interiors, spacious rooms and balconies. All in all everything blends seamlessly into the surrounding jungle. But this comes with a catch explained later... Location wise it's a little bit off and to reach the jetty or most other parts you need to rent a scooter or cab. Or depending on your level of fitness you can reach Radha Nagar beach (2.5km) in 30min by foot. The trek to elephant beach is also close by, ca. 300m around the corner. (It was extremely muddy at the time so bring your water shoes or do it barefoot) The resort also offers scooters for rent at 700rs per day. The staff though is the real heart of the resort. Their friendliness and professional take on things is what makes staying here a real joy. Be it the welcoming by Shilpa or her team helping me with the safe box or Preeti giving me the best directions on how to get to the different places. Or Shivprakash and his team giving me excellent food suggestions it all felt professional and natural friendly and not the usual smile in front and curse behind. One of the other standout highlights of the stay was the food, particularly the seafood offerings. Compliments to the chef and team. Freshly prepared, flavorful, the dishes showcased the best of local ingredients. From multiple curries, grilled prawns variations to the perfect lobster, every meal was a delight. With all this extraordinary service it’s puzzling though that the resort undermines its own promise of serenity with constant, intrusive loud music. Despite marketing itself under the theme “Time to Reconnect With Nature,” the reality was quite the opposite—round‑the‑clock amplified tracks made it nearly impossible to connect with the natural surroundings. This single misstep overshadowed what could have been a perfect peaceful stay: from mid‑morning until late evening, speakers blasted pop and electronic music at volumes completely at odds with the forest setting. Whether on the balcony, by the pool, or even inside the restaurant, the soundtrack was inescapable. To make matters worse, the resort relied on a single, limited playlist—so the same handful of songs cycled every couple of hours, compounding the irritation. Perhaps guests looking for a party‑like vibe might enjoy it, but for travelers like me drawn to Havelock’s calm—hoping to hear the sound of the jungle —the relentless soundtrack was a major letdown. By the final two days, the situation became unbearable: I measured the volume at 80 dB, comparable to city traffic, which felt entirely out of place in a property that otherwise markets itself as a nature‑inspired escape. In summary, De Foret has a lot going for it— First class attentive service, stylish accommodations and delicious cuisine—but the resort would benefit greatly from reconsidering its soundscape. A little more silence could go a long way in making this a truly restorative get

Our stay at the hotel was good , Here the rooms are beautiful, but it’s far from activities like the beach like Radha nagar 2.4 kms and , restaurants which are on opposite site . Only one that is cafe 4 was near by. Restaurant was good but break fast was limited, normally live kitchen , normally in such a hotel you get variety which is lacking like non-veg ( at least chicken sausage) also lacking was some cheese , salad , sauce and very limited choice of confectionery, compared to other star hotels at this rate, Hotel is not guest friendly , since we came with hand luggage I didn’t carry nail cutter , when I asked they said we don’t provide knife inside room . Boo. One day we went for scuba and asked them to keep some pack breakfast they refused straighten away , and said they can’t keep from buffets, what’s there they cannot keep just a simple boil egg some hard breads ,puri and some south Indians food were available, We stayed 5 nights , paid 6300 rs not worth it. Look for something else .

It’s a great place! All very nice and neat good size rooms with a great price value relation! But the staff is what makes life place even better- everyone is super friendly and helpful!! Special thanks to Preeti. She is so sweet, helpful and quick with all questions and request we had. We will be back!
