Havelock Garden Motel

Lovely motor court type hotel in the little town of Havelock. We were driving from Picton to the Abel Tasman park and overnighted here after some wine tasting in Blenheim. Unfortunately bad weather prevented us from continuing on to Abel Tasman and the proprietors were incredibly helpful getting us the information we needed to reroute our trip. We had a two bedroom apartment that was spacious and well appointed, plenty of room for 4 of us to spread out. Havelock is a little town on the coast, the green lipped mussel capital of the world - try them at the local pub across the street from the motel (which is friendly, has a decent wine selection and good food).

Spacious and clean motel. Stopped on our way through for the night. Very spacious unit, with clean kitchen and bathroom. We both rolled into the middle of the bed and stayed there all night - not comfortable. Mattress seemed cheap and nasty.

This is a peaceful place to stay. The rooms are generous in size and clean. At the end of the drive, a couple of minutes' walk away, is Havelock's small high street. Immediately to the right is the Sneaky Beach cafe which is ideal for breakfast and coffee and cakes. The Pelorus mail boat jetty is a 15 minute walk away - which is what brought us to the town. Back to the Havelock Garden Motel though, couldn't fault the place and would stay again.

Lovely traditional Kiwi motel. Very spacious and spotlessly clean. Set well back off the main highway, but 2 minutes walk to the shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking and very helpful hosts. The ducklings were a delight strolling around with motherduck. Excellent location if you are doing the mail boat trip, the owners allowed us to leave our car there for the day of the trip, then just a 10 minute walk to the boat.

Comfortable, quiet, clean and spacious accommodation for our one night stay whilst touring NZ South Island. Parking right outside our door. Blankets available for us to remake the comfortable king bed which was alreadymade up with a doona and electric blanket. The motel is within easy walking distance of all you might need when staying in the area. Our main reason for staying here was to enjoy the green lipped mussels that are a specialty of the area.

Excellent motel. We stayed in room 12, which has disability access, great shower/wet room, very spacous bedroom with high quality linens and super comfy king sized bed, and lovely lounge area with a pull out bed, we didnt use this. This room was at the back of three rows of motel units, very quiiet, with attractive flowering plants, and a bush walk to a waterfall next door.highly recommend.
