This hotel was built in the 70’s/80’s and it hasn’t been updated since. Its decor is awful, noise comes through from every wall. They seem to allow anyone to stay there who willingly make noise all through the night and cause trouble. The road is the main A5 and you can hear all the traffic, there is a car garage and a 24 hour transport cafe either side. Highly recommend going to the Premier Inn, or The Barnes, both a big improvement on The Roman Way.

Very tired hotel; we only wanted a cheap place to sleep and shower mid-journey and it was convenient for our needs just off the M6. We were there less than 11 hours. Fortunately we were not needing to eat or drink, as there is no provision or facilities anymore. There’s a big petrol station just up the road and a Beefeater. It wasn’t well signposted and the dim lighting made it look closed. I’m not sure I would have stopped if travelling alone. Fortunately we’d brought our own toiletries, hairdryer etc. You pay your money, your take your choice… it’s cheap and near the motorway.

Stayed here and was very comfortable. The website is very clear that there is no food or drinks available so all the reviews saying they where unaware need to just read the information. I will be back again!

What a "hotel". This place is just like one of those yucky motels you see in American TV shows and films. I half expected Norman Bates to jump out of the shower in the one room we saw. There are zero facilities here. Not even a vending machine that we could see. No bar, no restaurant, no food at all - but don't worry, they have a basket of take out menus and they can provide cups should you wish to sit in a silent reception area and drink your own booze you've purchased from a supermarket 😂 After the fury of discovering the Roman way Hotel is in fact not a hotel that we were paying a hotel price for, we then had room troubles. We booked a double, given a twin. Had to move rooms - OK, easy error. Our new room hadn't been cleaned (and for a while - it was gross) so off we toddled back to reception. On our several trips back and forth we did get to smell the disgusting stenches that filled each corridor. Somehow each corridor being worse than the one before it. Next we were upgraded to the bridal suite which was welcomed but it meant another aroma filled venture. Once getting in the bridal suite, things seemed better until actually spending 2 minutes in there. Put it this way, if this really was my wedding night and that had been our bedroom, we probably would have spent the night crying. Spiders and webs everywhere, dirty shower with a shower head that's so built up of limescale, the water doesn't come out properly, I found a few long dark hairs dotted around the bathroom - this was after returning from a few drinks at the local beefeater where we drowned our sorrows - none of which came from to either of us... Wrong colour. If we had been there for anything other than just a place to rest our heads, we would have moved elsewhere but we had an early start for the commonwealth games so just ****** it up for the night. That was a mistake.

Our disabled room was quite large with tea, coffee kettle tv etc, the beds are very comfortable, the bathroom has toiletries and several grab rails it was very clean. The carpet had seen better days but for the price we paid it was a acceptable. I’d have no problem staying here again.

Stayed here last night. Shabby but perfectly acceptable/ when I booked, I asked for a dog friendly room. There was absolutely no mention of an extra charge and even a personalised email to confirm the dogs were ok didn’t include information. When we checked in I was told to pay an extra £20. Whilst I have no issues with paying extra for dogs, it’s bad that this wasn’t mentioned until I turned up at the hotel!

Stayed here with work last month. Awful! Nothing like what is advertised. No bar or lounge open. Had to eat at a nearby pub which wasn’t the most ideal. Staff seemed stressed and not overly happy to be there. Wouldn’t stay again in a hurry.

Place itself is nice. The managers attitude poor! Made issues out of the smallest thing and having considered this for my own wedding party, completely put me off. No baby changing/disabled facilities. Run out of a lot of booze. Wouldn’t recommend.

For starters, trades description should look into what they advertise to what your given. Utter crap. Approached reception with letters virtually falling off above the door. Check-in. Couldn’t take my mo RG quick enough. Then abruptly told me no bars open, no restaurant no breakfast. Said owner came in Monday and insisted we close bar and restaurant. It’s clear when you enter the room, they could not have stripped the room of much more. A far far cry from what the photos advertise on all sites Websites show a vibrant colorful room. Yeah right. All artwork removed. Phones removed. Bathroom tiles with untold holes full of mastic where decent fixtures may have been. Room is drab. Carpet stained. Walls in need of paint. Rusted bath taps. Skirtings / tops of doors not cleaned in years. They literally could not have stripped the room anymore bare. Looks like an ailing business and its stripped and sold off fixtures and fittings. When I see some of the hotels these days used for housing homeless and immigrants, this should be and looks like one. God awful. Curtains don’t even fit width of windows. Was given a fancy printed wallet with a welcome pack. Hilarious. Seems a lot of expense just to show me on a single printed sheet of paper that I can hire a cot, get free Wi-Fi ( which did not work ) and arrange a game away. Very disappointed and obviously it returning.
