It’s the most beautiful of costal walks, great staff and service. Food constant good fair quality. However you get charged £3 to park your car down on the car park. Which is fine. But they say they are pet friendly- they are in the hotel and restaurant. What they fail to clearly state while taking you £3 that the beach is “strictly no dogs from may 1st -1st November I was told.

After a long walk on the costal path I stopped in at the hotel for some much needed food and drink. It was like being welcomed by family. Managers Donal and Sarah really looked after me, a solo traveler. Excellent food, cold drinks and genuine friendly and helpful staff all round. Please if you have the opportunity stop in for a meal and a pint, you won’t be disappointed. They really are the kindest of people. Many, many thanks X

Firstly, the good. A one night stay, whilst walking. Great location, perfect for the SWCP. Friendly staff, great food (the breakfast sausage was as fine an example as I can remember in a long time). Good beers on draught, great choice of other drinks. But. We were woken in the night by a strong smell of drains coming from the bathroom. Opening the window, and shutting the bathroom door helped, but it was still unpleasant. We tried to find someone to report it to in the morning, but no-one could be found. I'm sure it's a one-off, but maintenance could do with checking room 10.

There was scaffolding outside our room obscuring the view, but the hotel offered us a discount in lieu of this without us asking. The room was lovely - light and spacious with excellent beds and pillows etc and a good shower and we slept well. The food in the adjoining pub was very ordinary and not cheap, and breakfast was fine but not exceptional. Most guests were walkers like us yet despite this breakfast didn't open till 8.15 meaning an early start was difficult. It's a beautiful spot.

We arrived here after a full day of hiking the SWCP from Clovelly. We didn’t even see it until we were right down on it because it sits right on its very own Quay. Amazing and so old. We had all the necessary amenities and the room was large and comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful. Dinner was as delicious.

Wonderful location, lovely room and very helpful staff. I am coeliac and they were.very understanding of protocols to ensure no cross contamination. The breakfasts were cooked to order and packed lunches can be ordered. Just a note - no continent breakfast is available, though vegetarian and vegan cooked breakfasts are.

We usually visit out of season, where the place is very quiet. Today, we visited and the place was full, no seats available inside. No problem, we said, we'll sit outside. As it was sunny, but blowing a gale, we decided not to have a meal, but husband went inside to get a couple of drinks and 2 bags of crisps. He went to the Bar to order. No one came. Eventually, he caught someone's eye, who asked if he was ordering food. No he said, just drinks. Well, she said, you'll have to get in the queue over there, because we don't serve at the Bar. Eh? It's a pub. There was a queue of about 4 people, waiting to order food at at till by the door, but also a load of orders to process, I guess from the table servers. My husband said the staff didn't seem very friendly and pulling 1 pint and a glass of water should have been easier at the Bar. It's a nice place, stunning views from outside and nice coastal walks. BUT, it's a bit of a difficult drive down the lanes, busy today and we had to reverse several times for on-coming traffic. We won't be going back. Shame really, as I'm guessing our trade would be welcome in the winter months, when we usually visit. Note to staff: treat people a bit better with long term custom on mind. We are around all the time, not just in the summer holidays. Suggest allowing drinks only orders at the Bar. Would reduce queue for folks ordering food too.

The Hartland Quay is a really quirky property. The location is absolutely stunning! The dramatic seascapes are almost part of the decor! My room was comfortable, really clean and had everything I needed. I had dinner in the pub that is part of the hotel. The food was really good and the staff excellent. Breakfast was really good too….especially the home made raspberry jam….made with real raspberries and there were bits of real raspberry in it!!! I really enjoyed my stay, staff were lovely and helpful. Will definitely go back for a longer stay

We were there for a long weekend and unfortunately there was roofing work on the building so scaffolding everywhere. There was also a strong storm so the wind was blowing non-stop. Luckily the hotel itself and the pub are excellent. Best thing about it is the staff who seem to be genuinely friendly and helpful. In the group were 2 vegans and 2 vegetarians and they accommodated all our needs with no problems.
