As my friend Ruth Weir has stated in her review which is the truth, no way would she or my husband frighten any child they spoke to Mr Gupta away from his house , I was sat at the hotel crying in pain after my op from spinal surgery, ask your receptionist from that night about it, and please do tell how any money was refunded when it was pay on arrival as agreed with Mr Gupta, Ruth spoke to a lady when booking who rang her back she put it on loud speaker so I could hear, Mr Gupta was in the background shouting and I quote " you have the same room as 2 weeks ago which has a separate bedroom from the main one, room 16 , free breakfast and a bottle of prosecco in the room" . This man knew we were there for a funeral. After a 4 hrs drive in agony arriving at 8pm to be told our room has been given to someone else and we had to have a double room with a child put up bed, now me and Ruth are best friends but even I don't find it appropriate that she shares a room with my husband. We are in our 60s and none of us are slimmer of the year , so please do not anyone believe the dross Mr Gupta has replied to Ruth if in fact it was him , as he is not the lovely man we met twice before and was shown around the hotel. Again no refund as we had not paid yet , then the poor lad on reception had to tell us at 11pm we had to leave the hotel Mr Gupta did not even have the balls to do that himself , so I truly advise anyone take note of the locals who warned us not to use this hotel as it has a bad reputation for treating guests like crap .

Absolutely disgusting how my mother was treated. Her husband and her friend were attending a funeral and needed to travel down the night before. Theyd booked the room in advance by speaking to the actual owner of the hotel. After a brilliant stay the first time. Unfortunately the man on reception wasn't having it. To make the situation worse, my mum had travelled 4 hours after having a major surgery on her back! She rung me crying cause she was in pain. Disgusted by this! They arrive at the hotel to be told their rooms been given to someone else. Oh yes she'd be perfectly fine in a child's pull out bed 🙄 not happy!!!

We booked a "family Room" ... room 16, as there were 3 adults and this room had a double bed and a single bed in its own room. We arrived at the hotel to be told that the room had been given to someone else, that we could have a double room with a trundle bed. We advised this was not acceptable. The proprietor entered into a text conversation with the man on reception, and we were told that despite there being g vacant rooms, we would have to put up with the double plus trundle bed. We attended on the proprietor, and asked what had happened. He was very dismissive, despite the booking having been made directly with him. We were told he could do no more. We then advised the receptionist that we had no option but to take the room as there was no availability in St Ives. We were then informed at 11pm that we were not welcome at the hotel and we were to leave. This was despite the proprietor knowing we were in the area for a funeral. We had previous good experiences at the hotel ... but it is very apparent that the £ talks, and customers are simply cash cows. Avoid at all costs!

Not sure where to start. Firstly I will say that this hotel is in a superb situation overlooking the river. Our room was ok, large with ok furniture and clean. The rest of the place isn’t good. Holes in doors, paintwork poor, soul less. The breakfast room has beautiful views but has no character. Breakfast below average. Nothing very warm and everything poor quality. I totally understand this place is undergoing refurbishment but would question whether it should be open to the general public. The gardens and grounds in general were badly kept. We loved st Ives and general area but wouldn’t return to this hotel which is a shame as it’s so central and in a lovely position.

Hotel staff are friendly and accommodating, room was obviously recently decorated and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is reasonable, although you order the night before, it’s still being warmed in buffet containers and you help yourself, which seems odd. Nicer breakfasts to be had in town across the bridge, would go there instead. You can ask for hairdryer at reception, not sure why there isn’t one in the room. Free Prosecco is nice but with plastic glasses and no ice bucket, no fridge in the room either to keep it cool, warms up very quickly. No control over heating, so if you are chilly you can’t put heating on. Towel rail in bathroom didn’t work (room 74) Bathroom is clean and well decorated but dangerous once someone has had a shower. The mechanical extract doesn’t work very well and because the whole room is tiled it gets really wet from the steam. Walls, floor and towel rail stay wet for a long time even with the door open to try and dry it out. Floor is really slippery. The towel rail is also cold so the condensation is literally dripping which means any towels on it get very damp before you even shower. Think this will be a lovely place to stay once the refurbishment is complete. Would suggest a fridge in the room and a chest of drawers. Also a key to open balcony door.

What can I say other than WOW. Amazing view of the Northern Lights from the terrace. See photo. Compliments also to my hotel room which had a view of meadow and was well furnished and newly decorated. I Would definitely recommend this hotel as the go to place in St Ives.

What a lovely Hotel. The best location in St Ives, By the ancient Bridge overlooking the Great Ouse. The room was perfect. We had a twin room. It was a large room with twin beds, a table and two carver chairs, a large wardrobe and shower room. There was a kettle with ample tea bogs, coffee sachets and milk and sugar. The reception staff were very helpful. We met the owner who gave us a tour of the hotel .... the deluxe rooms overlooking the Water are beautiful. We shall be returning. Highly recommended.
