Dear Gabby Holly Georgia Abi and Cerys How lovely it is to see The Bear 🐻 being looked after again Your attention to detail, customer focus, and customer care are already shining through. The quality of the food and management of the beers has improved immensely. I wish you all a very Happy New Year and am looking forward to seeing The Bear flourish, as it certainly will now See you soon Kevin 🥰

We booked two rooms for a Saturday night. The staff were lovely and the rooms and indeed the whole pub were in immaculate condition. The building is old and beautiful, and they serve a nice pint of Harvey’s. We didn’t have time to eat there in the evening but at breakfast they provided a vegan croissant for my wife which was much appreciated especially as we had forgotten to tell them dietary preferences in advance. Would definitely stay here again

The Bear Inn was a magical experience! So much so that it made me want to never leave this part of the world. The village of Hartfield is so enchanting it’s no wonder A.A. Milne created his Winnie the Pooh stories. The Bear Inn was the icing on the cake, and the cherry on this cake will be when I return to live long term in Hartfield and patron the Bear Inn again. The manager of the inn, Dean, and all his team, are spot on professional and wonderful. The pub food and local tap beers are delicious! I highly recommend a stay at this inn and the experience of the village Hartfield, it truly is magical.

We arrived on Friday afternoon for a stay of three nights b&b and were pleased to find a pub that is not just a restaurant but is also a place where locals drink which is good. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfy and the shower worked. Now we come to the part which didn’t work out so well, the continental breakfast. Breakfast was hit and miss. The choice was very limited and became more so the later you arrived at your table but on Monday morning there was no breakfast at all. We arrived in the dining room to find a table had been laid but no food and no staff, in fact we seemed to be the only people in the pub. We hung about for half an hour then cleared off to find somewhere else to eat. I complained by email and eventually received a reply stating “ Breakfast is included as part of your stay and is not separately charged. While it is considered complimentary, I completely understand your disappointment. I appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention, and I will investigate what happened to ensure it doesn’t occur again.” If I book and pay for bed and breakfast I expect to get bed and breakfast otherwise it is room only the same as if I bought fish and chips the chips should definitely be included.

We visited for our birthday's, staying in Pooh's Room for three nights, eating there twice. It's in a gorgeous part of the country, and the 'inn' is a lovely building. The bar was busy when we arrived but we were checked-in efficiently. The room was lovely - the Winnie-the-Pooh wallpaper a cute addition - and it was clean and comfortable. Food was great throughout. Everything we had in the evening was delicious. Both of us were gluten free and there were options. The restaurant was very busy both nights we ate there - which must be a good sign. The bar was also busy every evening, I presume it's the 'local', but service was always quick. Breakfast was good. The breakfast included was more on the light side, but we were always still full from the evening before, it wasn't too much of an issue. You can order (and pay for) more if you wish. Staff were great. Everybody was so friendly, but a special shoutout must go to Dean who was fantastic. Great service, made us laugh so much, and served with the perfect level of sass I mentioned we were gluten free when making the booking, and they went out of their way to put gluten free biscuits in the room for our arrival. I also mentioned it was our birthday's, and we returned to a bottle of Prosecco. Just a fantastic place

Lovely bedroom decor and comfortable, but too dark in the room to put make-up on. No plug in bathroom sink and broken tap handle were inconvenient. Breakfast was included -a disappointingly basic continental with poor service. You have to pay extra if you want anything cooked.
