Arden House

The highlight of Arden House is the warmth and attentiveness of proprietors Jan and Mark. This very special place is a perfect jumping off point to York, Leeds and filming areas for BBC’s All Creatures Great and Small. Visit the magnificent gardens at the Royal Horticultural Society in Harrogate, followed by afternoon tea. Enjoy a local favorite, the Turkish Bath. Everywhere in and around Harrogate, you will meet friendly people.

The moment you enter Arden House you are warmly greeted by Jen and Mark who will care for you with such warmth and attention you will feel like members of the family come for a visit From a magnificent breakfast to the crisp white linens in your room, Mark and Jen have managed every detail . Our room (#2) had a huge bay window that looked out on a magnificent Japanese maple turning from red to gold and a quiet street lined with magnificent Victorian era homes built of burnished yellow stones. Lush gardens everywhere. Each room has a private bath and is furnished with some lovely antique pieces. A lovelier, cozier place I never found in all my years of travel

Lovely little guesthouse run by a fabulous couple who made you feel welcome!! Nothing was too much trouble for them, their breakfast was amazing .... Everything was freshly cooked and prepared on site!! The guesthouse is situated within walking distance of the shops and the train/bus station, it's the perfect location

I stayed here for 3 nights on a work conference. Excellent hospitality, hosts Jan and Max. Beautiful double room with ensuite facilities. Own shower, toilet and basin the in bedroom. There is lots of storage in the bedroom. A big double bed which was very comfortable and 3 pillows again very comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, vast variety double sided menu and fresh fruits, muesli and home made jams (absolutely delcicious). Nothing was ever too much and they were hugely supportive, kind and caring. The flowers out the front of the property are beautiful, full bloom, huge poppy flowers which are beautiful. A very inviting hotel/bed and breakfast. Towels, toiletries, hairdryer, all provided and a kettled and endless milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate :D (thank you). The harrogate and crowne plaza is 6mins walk. Its abit if an uphill. But that's not a problem. 9-12minutes walk into town, to see the heritage, buildings and resturants. I would highly recommend the accomodation and its perfect.

The only thing that trumped the nice and cozy atmosphere of the house were the delightful hosts, that filled the place with caring wholesomeness! I will absolutely stay there again, even if the hot water is not so reliable in these old houses.

Booked Arden House at short notice and luckily they had a room for us. We always look at parking when we book anywhere and it was a plus that there is private off road parking. Mark and Jan made us feel welcome and we settled in to our cosy room with comfortable bed and everything we needed. A ten minute walk into Harrogate and the shops and only 5 mins to an array of eateries and pubs from the guest house so no need to go into the centre on an evening after a long day sight seeing When we went down for our first breakfast we were impressed with the array of fruit, cereals and home made jams. Lots of choices for the cooked breakfast too which are all beautiful presented. Arden House is perfectly situated for the bus station and only a 20 minute ride to Knaresborough. All in all a lovely place to stay and we would have no hesitation in coming back, highly recommended .
