On the positive side: if you need to stay in the northern suburbs, Malcolm Lodge is perfectly located. It is reasonably comfortable and breakfast is good. The bed was big and importantly, had good pillows. Gorgeous gardens and pool. It feels secure. On the less positive side: our room was a bit cramped but plenty of closet space. The DSTV bouquet was very limited which was disappointing. A full bouquet is available in the common area but I don't think that's really what anyone want to do. There was much too much light leaking into the room from everywhere at night, even if you turn off the verandah lights. There are lights on everywhere. A bright light shone from behind the TV and threw light up across the ceiling. The wall switch was not in the room so we couldn't turn it off and had to throw a towel over it. Conversations held on the verandah are bothersome - other guests, people on phones, staff members cleaning next door or chatting loudly outside your window. I feel the generator needs to be housed as it is also noisy, but fortunately was not on for long. You're not allowed to use your hair dryer during generator hours, but there's also still a notice up saying that the solar system is insufficient (so when to use the hair dryer?!) There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Overall, it was convenient but lacking attention to the detail that might justify the price.
