My wife and I stayed for three nights. The rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable. Malcolm Lodge is in a quiet suburb with a lovely garden in which to relax. The staff and service were second to none.

After a long haul journey to Harare. Our short overnight stay at Malcom lodge on our way to Mana Pools was perfect. Paulette, Malcom and Susan were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the shower water was toasty hot. Malcolm Lodge is set in beautiful gardens and has spacious public areas to enjoy. We stayed a Sunday night when evening meals are not available so we ordered takeout from the local Thai restaurant and Malcolm Lodge provided our party of 5 with crockery and cutlery which was a great help. Paulette prepared us a tasty packed breakfast for our early start too. Highly recommend Malcolm Lodge for buildings or leisure guests in Harare. It’s a home from home.

I stayed at Malcolm Lodge for ~3 weeks while I was in Harare for work and loved it there. The people are amazing - so kind and helpful. The garden is beautiful and they have quite a few friendly pets around that give the place an overall homey and welcoming vibe. It was walking distance to a few shops and restaurants which I also liked. If I am ever back in Harare, I will stay here again!

Well, what a gem of a find! We arrived late on Sunday from a 28 hour journey from the UK, not sure of what we had booked but trusting TripAdvisor reviews. So glad we did. Paulette and Malcolm were so very welcoming from the beginning and sorted us all out calmly and efficiently. We were having a big family once in a lifetime holiday so they had to accommodate eleven of us ranging from 11 to 76 years and every decade in between! They kindly reserved a table for us at a restaurant around the corner which was exactly what we needed.ŵ We were allocated five beautiful rooms all with very comfy beds, perfect pillows for every personal peculiarity, and so very clean and airy. The decor throughout was aesthetically very pleasing and calming with subtle artwork dotted here and there that elevated the overall feel. I note some reviewers complained about hearing other guests but having been lucky enough to try a couple of rooms guest in multiple rooms owing to my daughter’s special needs I can’t say that was my experience. The first night I slept for eleven hours and did not hear a thing! It felt very safe and you can actually sleep with rooms unlocked, such is the security and feel of the place. The garden was lovely and very well maintained. At Malcolm Lodge you will find an exceptional example of hosts who bend over backwards to accommodate their guests’ needs and provide the five star services guests expect even with the constant challenge of daily setbacks faced by all Zimbabweans. It was very much appreciated. And a special thanks for the amazing breakfast provided! And eaten in such a picturesque setting. We all loved it and can’t to be back again.

On the positive side: if you need to stay in the northern suburbs, Malcolm Lodge is perfectly located. It is reasonably comfortable and breakfast is good. The bed was big and importantly, had good pillows. Gorgeous gardens and pool. It feels secure. On the less positive side: our room was a bit cramped but plenty of closet space. The DSTV bouquet was very limited which was disappointing. A full bouquet is available in the common area but I don't think that's really what anyone want to do. There was much too much light leaking into the room from everywhere at night, even if you turn off the verandah lights. There are lights on everywhere. A bright light shone from behind the TV and threw light up across the ceiling. The wall switch was not in the room so we couldn't turn it off and had to throw a towel over it. Conversations held on the verandah are bothersome - other guests, people on phones, staff members cleaning next door or chatting loudly outside your window. I feel the generator needs to be housed as it is also noisy, but fortunately was not on for long. You're not allowed to use your hair dryer during generator hours, but there's also still a notice up saying that the solar system is insufficient (so when to use the hair dryer?!) There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Overall, it was convenient but lacking attention to the detail that might justify the price.
