The hotel is in a great location in the Old Quarters with everything just a walking distance away. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very good. It’s a newly renovated hotel so everything was new and clean. Some work is still ongoing but not enough to be a bother. Special mention to Patrick who gave us a list of places to go to and was helpful with any questions we had.

My God. The Capella Hanoi is the finest city hotel experience that I have enjoyed thus far. It really blows other 'high end' hotels out of the water completely. The level of service rivals that of other five star establishments in Bali (which I can personally say has some of the best hospitality standards globally). The staff were all so kind, genuine and knowledgeable. They all gave excellent recommendations for off-site activities and dining, although honestly, next time I'll just stay put in the hotel all day because of what's on offer in-house! The main point of difference that very few hotels are doing is their daily ”rituals”, think complimentary cocktails and snacks during happy hour every day, plus champagne breakfasts with Tattinger, – no “sparkling wine” here – and a lavish spread of the best Vietnamese food we had during our stay in the city (the breakfast beef pho is a must try), along with oysters and steak. Mind blowing. The hotel itself is a feast for the eyes: drawing inspiration from the 1920s art-deco scene of the nearby Hanoi Opera. Our suite was just stunning, easily one of the most impeccably designed rooms I've ever stayed in. Even the corners of the walls were designed in art deco fashion, and antique props are on display around the room. You really can't say very many other hotels employ this level of detail. Coming from someone who lives in and experiences the high standards of Balinese hospitality, (I’ve also stayed at the Capella Ubud), the service at Capella Hanoi was nothing short of phenomenal. The staff were so lovely and so genuine. It's simply put a top-notch place with outstanding facilities, incredible service, and stellar management – I genuinely can’t recommend it enough.

The hotel was clean and well appointed in that it had toiletries and towels and nice sheets but it was shabby by 4 star standards despite the nice rooms. We felt it was a 3 star overall. The grouting was dirty, the bath creaked terribly and there was no evening meal service, pool or even room service (despite a hotel guide in the room saying there was!). The shower was ok but not more than like a domestic wall shower. We had three pillows over the one single and one double in the room and the pillows were flat. We ate at the hotel on the street but it was all frog, squab and other peculiar meats, even by Vietnam standards. No veggie options in the streets around so for more digestible food walk a few streets. There is a safe in the room and good WiFi. Breakfast service was over full and chaotic. The fruit juices were from concentrate (I saw her refilling). So it was ok but isn’t a destination. The location was ok for central Hanoi but not great if you can’t walk easily. The breakfast was ok but certainly not as good as others we have stayed in. The room cleaning was very good and the hotel felt safe. I think we would have been more pleased if we hadn’t had better in Siagon, Hue and Hoi An. The air con was good but switches off after a while.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and 5 days, the room was always clean, the air conditioner was powerful, and the breakfast buffet was very good. In particular, the beef pho was better than that of the famous restaurant outside, and the Vietnamese iced coffee every morning was as delicious as the café outside, and I was very satisfied. Also, on the last day of the trip, my flight to Japan was late at night, but they let me use the shower even after checking out, which was very helpful. All the hotel staff were very nice (because I had to get on the plane sweating as it was), but Jenny and M were especially helpful. Thanks for the great experience!

We had a wonderful stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi and the customer experience was wonderful from end-to-end. Upon reaching the hotel we were warmly greeted by the reception team who had some welcome drinks and seamlessly checked us in. we enjoyed the view and our drinks from the Infinity bar. The reception staff looked after us well during our stay with exchanging currency for us. We would particularly like to recognise the concierge Huyen Tran who was truly remarkable with her customer service to us during our stay. She provided us with a wealth of information, guidance and handy tips for our stay in Hanoi. She gave us the timetable for Train Street and the recommended bar/restaurant to get a great view, recommended a number of shops where I could find a particular t-shirt that I was after, helped us with multiple currency exchanges, found my wife’s lost sunglasses that she had left in the ground floor bar and had then returned to our room on top of the mini bar, retrieved my wife’s scarf that she left at the poolside bar and had it waiting for her to collect. She even had bandaids for me to patch up my wound when I had cut my hand. Huyen, thank you so much. You were truly a delight to talk with and are truly an asset to the Accor group. Facilities wise, there was a lovely pool with the really cool Cabana Club bar next to it on level 4. Mangosteen restaurant put out a great breakfast buffet every morning with plenty of local, international and traditional breakfast options in a fine dining setting. Lounge 83 on the ground floor had really comfortable couches and a classy intimate setting playing soothing music in the background. Every day at 5pm they had Chocolate Hour where they put out a chocolate fountain and plenty of sweet treats all for free for hotel guests. The Classic King Room that we stayed in was very clean, well appointed with great amenities. The two most important things about the room were well addressed. First, the bed was so comfortable that we had a good night’s sleep and felt well rested. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Second, the shower had excellent water pressure, regardless of whether you used the traditional shower head or the rain shower (which was my preferred option), was instantly hot and was quite spacious. Feeling clean and feeling well rested are two of the most important aspects in my opinion. Location-wise, the hotel is very conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Old Quarter, about 10 minutes walk from Train Street, 10 minutes from Lake Hoan Kiem, and only 200 metres away from one of the best restaurants in Hanoi which is Quan An Ngon. Every staff member that we interacted with at the hotel was friendly, helpful and a joy to be around. We really enjoyed our time at the Movenpick and look forward to returning there in the future. Thank you to the Movenpick team (and in particular Huyen) for a wonderful experience.

We had a very enjoyable stay at La Sinfonia del Rey. The location was superb next to the Hoan Kiem lake right in the middle of the Old Quarter. All of the staff were extremely friendly and special mention to Rose who greeted us and remembered our names throughout our stay, and to give us recommendations on where to eat while we were in Hanoi. We also wanted to thank the manager who checked us in and had more food recommendations and for the lady who checked us out that gave our son a departing gift. Thank you for having us!

This was one of our best experiences at a hotel anywhere in the world. We had so much gracious assistance from all of our staff, especially from Tan, who helped us enjoy our stay in so many ways. Our room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. All the food was delicious, including the amazing breakfast buffet. Tea and happy hour were so fun and memorable. We will definitely never forget our stay and look forward to staying at Sofitel in Hanoi again soon!

I and some friends stayed here few years ago and we come back this year as we love this hotel a lot. Everyone works for this hotel is very helpful and hospitality. They supported us a lot during the time we stayed here with them. Hotel is clean and we love everything and of course also the breakfast. We will definitely come back and also introduce to more of our friends. Thanks again for making my trip !

GGuest UserI had less than 24 hours in Hanoi therefore location was crucial. This place is perfect. On a quiet little street in the heart of everything which couldn't be more perfect. Lily is amazing! So so helpful. Room was perfect with super comfy bed. So clean and cosy. Shower was lovely and hot too. At such a cheap price, insane!!! What more can you ask for!! Xx

GGuest UserOur group of 6 stayed 3 nights at peridot. We had some hiccups which was of no fault by the hotel..( like losing one luggage from our group from our cruise, and tour operator etc). The hotel went above and beyond to help us resolve our problems. Special thanks to Plum, who was so nice and friendly and was so professional and efficient to resolve issues for us. Hotel has plenty of restaurants and street food everywhere and is very near the lake. Beautiful pool and sky bar too.Everyone was very friendly and helpful, from the bellboys to the front desk staff. They even gifted my mom who has a bad knee a herbal compress from the spa. Small details and kind gestures made our stay here so special. 5 stars to the peridot team!

GGuest UserI recently stayed here, and I must say, the location was excellent - close to all the sights and sounds of the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to assist with a bright smile - shout out to Julia, Kevin, and Tom. However, I did notice that the room I was in needed some deep cleaning to freshen it up. Poor sound proofing and can literally hear chitchats from the lobby. Despite this small setback, my overall experience was pleasant, and I appreciated the warm hospitality of the hotel staff. P.S. Banh Mi 25 is 2 mins away, and the famous Michelin Bun Cha Dac Kim was a 5-min walk.

GGuest UserA great hotel in the Old Quarter and very convenient for sightseeing in Hanoi. Situated near beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake and its lovely gardens, trees and temples. Very reasonable rates- value for money. The rooms are comfortable, clean and air-conditioned. Clean towels and water ere delivered daily. The breakfast buffet was good and you could also order from the breakfast menu so there was lots of choice. The staff make this hotel. David the manager is very welcoming and extremely helpful as is his staff, particularly Henry and Ian. Nothing was too much trouble. David booked our sightseeing trips to Ninh Binh, Halong Bay and Sapa for us - all were excellent and at very good prices. Pick ups from the hotel were organized by the staff so that made organising transoport easy. The hotel has Vietnam SIM cards for your mobile, and they also provide a currency exchange. We couldn't have been happier as it made organization easy and we had a smooth, trouble free, comfortable and a very happy stay at the Rising Dragon Legend Hotel. Thank you David, Henry, Ian and the rest of the staff. We'll return. Peter and Vicki, Australia.

GGuest UserThe staff in this hotel were excellent! From welcoming us with some welcome drinks and fruit, to politely going through our booking details with us (as there was a mix up about payment) and even looking after our bags for a night (as we spent one evening in a village a little way out from Hanoi and returned to the hotel the day after). Of course the rooms, cleanliness and breakfast were also fantastic - and the only reason for rating the location as a 4 is owing to the fact that as it is centrally located in the Old Town, it can get quite noisy at night. In fairness, the hotel accomodated this by ensuring guests were placed in rooms further away from the noisy street (and with double windows), but it is something to bear in mind. We didnt mind of course - you cant expect to be in the midst of it all, and at the same time expect pure silence!

GGuest UserThe staff are very polite and enthusiastic. The room facilities are a bit old, but there is a night market downstairs. It only takes five minutes to walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. Overall, it is pretty good. The room is very quiet.

GGuest UserPros: The staff was extremely kind and accommodating and willing to help with any and everything if mentioned to them. It’s a fab location with Hoan Kiem lake well within walking distance, yet not right in the middle of the hectic old quarter so it’s possible to get a good night’s sleep (our room didn’t have a window, so unsure if this is true for rooms with window). Beds were changed every day and also clean towels daily however other amenities like toilet paper, shampoo, bodywash etc weren’t topped up during our stay. Cons: We arrived after the advertised check in time and our room wasn’t ready which wasn’t ideal after 17 hours of flights, however also understandable that sometimes other guests check out late. I think because of this they rushed to get the room ready which meant it wasn’t completely clean e.g hair on the floor, fingerprints on the mirrors/glass. Our TV didn’t work, the wifi was very slow during our stay, and the shower ran cold for the first 2 days which to be fair was fine considering how hot it was. Booking.com still states that breakfast is available here but nothing was mentioned to us about breakfast, and it’s worth noting that the photos used by the property definitely aren’t accurate. The property is nice, but not like the photos. Our room was windowless which I cant remember whether this was mentioned when booking. We didn’t complain as we 1) were very tired from the travelling, and 2) felt that it was a case of you get what you pay for (budget room/hotel). However I felt considering the high score the property has on booking.com and on here, it was important to leave a more accurate image of the property. Overall I would recommend for budget travellers, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for
