Hanoi House Hostel & Travel

Linda runs this place like a true professional! She arranged my ride from the airport, gave me recommendations of things to do, and made sure I was very comfortable in my stay. Room 505 is a great room with a balcony and the price was so reasonable. I will stay here again.

Very good welcome and magnificent treatment from the first moment. Polite, attentive and hospitable staff. They kept our suitcases for us throughout the day. The rooms were great and clean. The breakfast was also very good and complete. If we return to Hanoi, we will definitely repeat the hotel. thank you.

Hanoi House is a massive scam. This is by far the worst hostel I have stayed at. Upon arriving to the hostel I realised that they had a bunch of awards from years past (2013,2014) which makes me think that this place might have been past its glory days. The rooms were extremely old and untaken care of. I had a single private room which not only had a broken window, but also had a leaking AC unit. Checkout was also a nightmare. At 6am, the person in the counter was sleeping on an air mattress right in the lobby, then his computer and card machine wouldn’t turn on. Once he got it to work, the card machine didn’t accept my card. As a final resort he led me to an ATM outside the hostel. This is by far the worst, and most professional experience I’ve had in the hotel industry. If you come across this joke of a hostel please steer clear.

Do not book their tour packages! Big bait and switch!!! They gave us a quote for two tours of Mai Chau and Ninh Binh and our experiences was AWFULL!!! Our lodging looked nothing like the brochures, and the activities were not what was printed on the brochures. And, they hugely overcharged us, far different from their original hand-written quote. Beware how they switch from USD to VND. They said they would refund but never did! We're disputing through our bank. They promised my 82-years-old mother she would receive activities when we would do bicycling and Mountain climbing but never gave her any alternatives, she ended waiting on the bus. We wanted to cancel but they would not allow us--and we did not want to be stuck with no transports 4 hours in the middle of nowhere from Hanoi. They canceled some key visits on the itineraries and did not replace them, just shortened the entire program as well as changing our visit dates. We texted/called but no answer. And when we were back in Hanoi, we went to the office twice and it was closed, even though they said they would be open and told us we would get some refunds. Not reputable!!!

Save your money and go elsewhere, the photos used in the advertisement have been taken elsewhere, there is no photos on the advert that come close to the reality of the rooms, the rooms look NOTHING of the sort, for Vietnam the price you pay here, you expect better than what is “actually” provided.

I would love to come back to this hotel again next to I visit Hanoi. Breakfast 0600-1000 I didn’t expect such a good breakfast but it is pretty good.  Fruits buffet and one main dish. You can choose from Vietnamese or western.  Lime pancake is a bit disappointing as it didn't come with syrup but banana pancake comes with syrup.  Every meal is cooked in the small kitchen except Vietnamese rice roll cakes. One morning I ordered it and staff went outside to get it :D  It was very authentic and pretty good. I stayed in 2 different rooms as I had to move rooms due to overbooking of something. A big Room with a balcony and single room. Every room has a window and bathtub anyway.  Shower head holder is broken in the single room but it is a hot water shower. I won’t complain about it. Balcony room is really good and spacey. This is the room I definitely want to come back to. Said that, a single room (superior) is also good. Although it is very compact, it has everything.  Both rooms have  - Bathtub  - TV - Mini fridge( mini bar)  - Closet - Safe - Complimentary drinks - Amenities - Wi-fi There are 3 rooms on each floor. The Room was cleaned every day. This is a nice surprise. I arranged a cab to get back to the airport, it costs 4,800,000. \ When I took a cab from the airport, it was about 5,500,000. So it might be better to ask the hotel for a ride.  Although the location of most hotels is great as long as it is inside the old quarter, this location is premier. It is next to the Heritage House. Very close to Hoa Kiem lake, Long Bien Bridge.

I stayed at the hostel 2 times , the first being ok with my requested bath and a good sized room and very good breakfast . The only issue was an air conditioner that would not cool down past 74 degrees despite the staff working with it. On the second visit with the same superior double /twin room, I was put in a tiny room with an even worse AC that never got below 76F. This didnt match the photo and they insisted that it was correct room while my buddy got the larger room ( after i checked in) with fine AC. No apology, no move to change room so it was very frustrating.
