La Siesta Classic Hang Thung

Hồ Hoàn Kiếm Area Hanoi|0.43km from Fat Cat Bar
I recently stayed at La Siesta Classic Hang Thung for one night, and honestly, it wasn't enough! Hotel Property: 1. The hotel's location is great. It's right in the middle of Hanoi's Old Quarter, so you can easily walk to Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoy the lively atmosphere. 2. What's cool is that the hotel is only two months old and it looks amazing. The rooms are a good size, and the modern design is Instagram-worthy. It's pretty impressive they even squeezed in a pool in the middle of the tight Old Quarter spaces. Service 1. We got to the hotel really early from Sapa, and our rooms weren't ready, but Mr. VP at the front desk was super nice. He went out of his way to arrange a shower for us. It was a real help to get us cleaned up from the long train ride. 2. I accidentally booked a room for 3 persons when there was only 2 of us. Mr.VP immediately noticed it and upgraded us to a junior suite without us knowing. That was a pleasant surprise and definitely made our day. The Not-So-Great Stuff: There were a couple of small issues that could have made the overall experience even better. 1. We asked for more water and ice around 9 pm, but they never brought it. Eventually, we went out and buy water, and reminded the front desk to send some ice to the room. But even after reminding the front desk personally, no ice came all night. 2. Food at breakfast was good, but the service could he better. When we wanted to sit by the window, the server insisted that we sit at another table. She rolled her eyes at me when I told her that we prefer to sit by the window. She then cleared our table quite unwillingly. She just changed the cutlery but did not replace the used placemats. We didn't bother her after that as she seemed annoyed. But despite these minor hiccups, I'd definitely recommend La Siesta Classic Hang Thung to anyone looking for a great stay in Hanoi. It's a lovely place with pretty and clean rooms and lovely front desk staff.

Hanoi Discovery Hotel

Hồ Hoàn Kiếm Area Hanoi|0.05km from Fat Cat Bar
I stayed a few nights at the Hanoi Discovery and undoubtably the best selling point of this hotel is the location, right in the heart of the old town and a stones throw from Beer Street. It is located in a dark and gloomy, narrow dead end lane, which at first can be a little off putting, but after a day or two you get used to it and it does carry a sort of old world charm. Anyway, you get what you pay for and at under $USD20 I cannot really complain. The rooms are dated and basic and a little on the dark and gloomy side. They are a good size though and have a little work station where you can set up a laptop etc. Plenty of cupboard space and two bed side tables, both sides with power points. Small fridge and kettle provided but you will have to purchase your own water, tea, coffee etc. The bathroom has a shower hose (good pressure and hot), standard western toilet and sink. Getting the shampoo/soap out of the dispensers was nigh on impossible so I ended up buying my own. A hair dryer is provided. The noise from outside is quite noticeable up until about 1am, I am a heavy sleeper so was never a problem for me. The WIFI in the hotel was not brilliant but ok, occasionally becoming unstable. The young man (his English is limited) working the front desk in the evenings sleeps on the reception sofa during the night and will get up to open the door for you if you have a late night out. During the day there is a lady on reception (speaks very good English) who is very helpful in offering advice and organising tours. During my stay there were numerous power disruptions but they eventually sorted them out and the last couple of days were trouble free. I booked through Agoda and the hotel is listed as having an elevator. There is NO elevator so if this is important to you then please take note! Would I stay here again? Yes, the good points out weigh the bad and at the price point paid it represented reasonably good value.

Hanoi Marriotte Hotel

It's 10 seconds walk from the intersection of the Old Quarter, very good to play in the old town. It is necessary to be careful because the hotel signboard remains ”ibiz city hostel” which was the previous hotel name regardless of the famous Marriott hotel. At night, the street on the table is noisy, and the 1 floor is more noisy at the bar for foreigners. It is the center of the dormitory, but there is also a family room. However, the family mule is 2 floor ~, so the noise hits directly. No elevator. The employees are very kind, but at night they seemed to be busy at the bar and at the travel agency in the daytime. The family room had a refrigerator and electric pot, but there is no security BOX. There is also a set of amenities, but there is no replenishment such as shampoo and no bottled water service. The shower is difficult to adjust, but hot water comes out properly. There is no bathtub. It was breakfast, but there were many delicious shops around, so I didn't use it.

The service of the hotel is awesome. We have asked for a 5am pick up to hotel and they assisted us on that promptly. Location of hotel is also super convenient to many tourist attractions and indeed the hotel is also quiet despite all the traffic noises. We have all compliments and zero complaints on that . Breakfast is good as well.

Hanoi All Nations Homestay

The hotel is located in the main city of Lao Cai in Hanoi. There are many restaurants around and it is more convenient to travel. However, the hotel is located in an alley. It is relatively easy to find this place according to the online positioning. This hotel is a B&B run by a private family. There are 2 room types on each floor. Due to space reasons, there is no elevator. If you mind taking the stairs, you need to consider it yourself. However, the hotel has a self-made elevator to help guests transport heavier luggage. Going up, the service is quite considerate. The boss is a very beautiful and approachable girl. I received her warm hospitality here. Although the time we spent together was short, it was very pleasant. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep drinks and mineral water cold. The overall environment is similar to that of guest houses in China, but fortunately the location is more convenient. For friends who like to go out and have delicious food, I recommend you to book here.

The team, John, Rosie, Tracy, Cloudy, Leo, the cook and housekeeper made me feel so welcomed. This little establishment is great value for Hanoi. It is right smack in the old quarter steps within beer street and the night market. Just a few minutes leisurely walk and you'll reach Hoan Kiem Lake. The location is great but you still get peace and quiet as it's tucked into an alley away from all the noise. Finding it can be tricky, I suggest booking an airport transfer. Or, take a grab to May De Ville Premier Hotel which is right across it and just walk into the alley. My room was basic and small but I knew that. It was all I needed. Good shower, aircon and TV. It has a fridge and kettle. But really the draw is the amazing staff that run the show. John and Rosie spoke good English so communication is seamless. Tracy is still learning but kudos to her for the effort! You'll be fluent sooner than you think. Her English definitely beats my limited grasp of Vietnamese. Cloudy, social relations manager, 🤣whom I met briefly was also a delight to chat to. All in all, you can't go wrong staying here if you want good value. Thank you so much Cosy Inn Hanoi Team for your hospitality! Safiee
